The Lok Sabha passed The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, by a voice vote. Introduced by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, the legislation drastically tightens punishments from the older 2024 Act. The amendments follow intense nationwide student protests and the recent resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan over high-profile examination paper leaks.
