🏛️ Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham recently hosted the annual South Asia UNESCO Chairs Round Table, contributing to UNESCO’s 2026–2027 strategic priorities. Conducted as a hybrid event, the round table brought together academic leaders and UNESCO Chairholders from across South Asia, including Prof. Raghu Raman, Dean of Amrita School of Business and UNESCO Chair in Assistive Technologies in Education.

📌 Delegates joined from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka
📌 Discussions focused on aligning regional research with UNESCO’s global agenda

Amrita School of Business and the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham were delighted to virtually host Prof. Nripendra Rana (Queen’s University Belfast | Top 2% Scientist Worldwide, Stanford–Elsevier), who presented the session, “Clicks to Immersion: How the Metaverse is Transforming the Future of Marketing.”

The session left us asking important questions:

🌐 How are virtual environments changing consumer behaviour?

🔍 How do consumers build identity through avatars?

💡 Why do people assign real value to purely digital goods?

🧪 How must our research methods evolve for immersive environments?

🧭 Which theories need reimagining — and which new constructs are emerging?

The session was well attended by faculty members and scholars across multiple disciplines, with questions focusing on the role of the metaverse in sustainable development, AI, climate stress, and education among others.
