The School of Architecture was set up in 2014, with an initial annual intake of 40 students. The fundamental thrust of the School’s philosophy has been to emphasize the holistic and ethical nature of the design profession with regards to its social responsibilities.

From documenting the vibrant life of the fishermen community in Thangassery to exploring climate-responsive and community-based architectural interventions, this studio journey became an exploration beyond drawings and classrooms. Through site studies, bamboo workshops, model making, and design development, students engaged deeply with livelihood, culture, and everyday life through architecture.

TKM School of Architecture presents the S4 Final Jury 2026, featuring student explorations under the theme: “Community Architecture: Thangassery Fisherfolk”

The studio focuses on architectural interventions rooted in community, livelihood, culture, and the everyday realities of the fishing community of Thangassery. Through research-driven and context-sensitive design approaches, students explored how architecture can respond meaningfully to coastal life and collective needs.
