Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kollam School working under the Educational Cell of the World spread CHINMAYA MISSION A shed was constructed and classes commenced in it. Sri.K.

About us
The 23rd of October 1985 (Vijayadesami day) marked the fulfillment of a long cherished dream of the people of Kollam and a beginning was made in starting a Nursery School by the Chinmaya Mission. The Mahila Samajam had graciously allowed some space, for conducting nursery classes and continued there till 1988. In 1988 the school was shifted to a bigger building in Manayilkulangara and cl

asses up to std VII were functioning there. In the year 1996, the Regional Trust purchased a land of 3 acres at Kuzhiyam South, Chandanathope for The Chinmaya Vidyalaya. The school that was functioning in Mnayilkulangara was again shifted to the Mahila Samajam building in the year 1998. In the year 2000 the school that was functioning in the Mahila Samajam building (up to Std IV) completely stopped functioning and (it was merged with) the new school that started in Chandanathope. Ravindranathan Nair, President of the Chinmaya Mission and Vidyalaya, Kollam was magnanimous enough to take the initiative for the construction of a permanent school building. His sincere patronage led to the completion of a new building in the year 2001. The first batch of S.S.L.C students appeared for the examination in March 2001 and came out in flying colors. In the academic year 2001-2002, the school participated in the Republic Day Celebrations held in by Fine Arts Society and Panchayats, the school bagged first for the 'BEST BHARAT NATA' and also bagged the second prize for the 'BEST SCHOOL' in the U P Section. The Vidyalaya is situated in Kuzhiyam South, Chandanathope in about three acres of land. With compound wall on all the four sides, stands the beautiful building of the Vidyalaya with its architectural beauty. There is an Ashram in the campus for the Acharys. There is a Vinayakam temple too. The School is affiliated with CBSE for classes up to X

Stop remembering and craving for things bygone; entertain no joy or sorrow as they reach you in the present. You are carrying a bundle of dead memories of the rotten past. The more we remember the past, those very vasanas get more deeply fixed into our personality structure. The past is made up of dead moments, and to unearth the buried moments is to live with the dead. Throw away the bundle — walk ten steps and breathe fresh air. Contemplation then comes automatically. Every happening, every experience, is a necessary step toward the great, grand goal.

The most beautiful thing to do this is to forgive everyone around us. Once we forgive, the intellect becomes subtle, pure & mature. We will be filled with love & happiness.

This Deepavali accept life like a pair of walking legs. The foot forward has no pride & the foot behind has no shame. Both know their situation will soon change. Shubh !

A spiritual seeker should not try to run away, in the very beginning into protection, but must court life and plunge into the centre of it and take life as it comes – good, bad or indifferent – and learn to balance himself in spite of all the imperfections in the circumstances.

A family, a brother and so on, are pieces set up around you to give a definite chosen experience, which alone will be conducive to your progress. Take what life has to give you as the Lord’s gift – prasāda. Sorrows polish off the vāsanās and tears are the brasso of the mind.

The eternal law provides each of us with a circumstance in life to enjoy or suffer strictly according to and in continuation of our past. There are no accidents in the eternal law. Moment-to-moment, life is progressive, continual and logical.

What is to be avoided is not the world outside. In the impulse of the moment, in a rising tide of disgust, at some specific failure, people often renounce in a hurry and run away from life. Such people, without exception, come to live in regret, suffering endless mental agony, arising out of their physical privations.

The exhaustion and fatigue suffered by them in this subjective storm is the source of all worldly sorrows. This storm is in the mind, which they will carry wherever they go. What has to be changed is the mind, not the environment.

Let a person stay where he is stationed and placed in life, which is all prescribed according to his psychological texture, and proceed according to the work that is allocated to him, the duties enjoined on him, according to his qualifications, his psychological nature, his dharma. Doing his dharma he will be serving the higher cause.

One day Gurudev shared this experience with devotees —
"When I was a young sadhak, I once found myself seated next to J. Krishnamurti during lunch. Good, I said to myself, now I have a chance to ask him some questions. I cleared my throat and started speaking. Krishnamurtiji looked at me quietly and said, 'Young man, when I eat, I eat.' "As a sadhak, it was a valuable lesson that I learnt."
