As part of the 5th Semester SEC course “Museology,” the Department of History organized a field visit on August 6 to Padmanabhapuram Palace and Napier Museum, Thiruvananthapuram. The visit provided students with firsthand exposure to the functioning of museums and the methods adopted for the preservation and conservation of historical artefacts. It also helped students understand the role of museums in preserving and promoting the history, culture, and traditions of society.

Meet the Talent is the flagship monthly initiative of the Postgraduate and Research Department of Botany, Fatima Mata National College (Autonomous), connecting students with eminent academicians, researchers, scientists, and industry experts.

This month, on Thursday, 6th August 2026, at Gregor Mendel Hall, the programme featured Prof. (Dr.) G. M. Nair, President of the Kerala Academy of Sciences, who delivered an inspiring talk on "Challenges and Opportunities in Science: Breakthrough Developments and Emerging Frontiers in Biological Sciences." The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which he addressed students' queries and inspired them to pursue scientific research and innovation.

FMNC NSS Disaster Management Team, comprising Abey Santhosh, Haripriya, Anna Anjalose, Alsa Thomas, Bhavana Nikesh, Meril Das, and Derin Lawrance, assisted the Pazhavangadi Grama Panchayat in its post-flood sanitation drive on 3 August 2026 by collecting and clearing water-damaged materials from commercial establishments in Ittichira Town, Ranni, Pathanamthitta.

FMNC IEDC Activities 2026–2027 were inaugurated by Dr. M. R. A. Pillai, Former Head of the Radiopharmaceuticals Division, BARC, Mumbai, in the presence of Principal Prof. Dr. Manohar D. Mullassery. Dr. Pillai inspired students with his entrepreneurial journey, urging them to become job creators while sharing his ongoing contributions to cancer research. The programme also featured the launch of the renewed IEDC website (designed by our student Vinayak -Dept.of Computer Science) and an orientation on startup opportunities by Dr. Anoop P. S., Co-founder of Bustler, followed by an engaging AI-based activity. The event marked the beginning of another vibrant year of innovation, entrepreneurship, and student-led initiatives at FMNC.

🌿 World Mangrove Day 2026 🌿

The Postgraduate and Research Department of Botany, Fatima Mata National College (Autonomous), Kollam, organized a one-day field visit to Mangrove Meadows & Adventures, Paravoor, on 29 July 2026.

The programme provided students with hands-on learning through observation of the mangrove ecosystem, planting mangrove seedlings along Paravoor Lake, and engaging learning activities on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
