Few days back, students of the Guest Service Executive batch of Brainware Skills under the project of DDU GKY got the opportunity to learn plenty of aspects of the Hospitality sector as they participated in an ‘Industry Visit’ programme at Sarovar Portico where few of our former students have been working blissfully for months.

Skill training is intertwined with providing the right exposure to the sector along with the classroom training sessions. The Industry Visit programme is a proven mechanism for this. With competent guidance of the HR personnel, Somdatta Sadhukhan, students got the opportunity to have real-time ideas about the functions of one of the 5 star Hotel properties of the city while accessing most of the major departments of the hotel – reception, rooms, banquet hall and restaurant etc. At Brainware Skills training centre, students are consistently involved with activities like this and they always identify these as rich experiences which help them a lot during their respective ‘On the Job Training’ phases.

Holi, the festival of colours, is one of the most awaited celebrations across India. According to mythology, it is associated with the legends of Prahlad and Holika.

This festival is not just about colours, but of love, unity and happiness. Holi teaches us to let go of miseries and to embrace the colours of life. It is the time to express the happiness of being loved and spread the colours of joy all around. It marks the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil. The celebration of Holi strengthens relationships by breaking social barriers.

A few days before Holi, all the students of Brainware Skills started planning for a warm celebration. At Brainware Skills, our beloved students organized altogether a series of programmes including songs, recitations and dances on the significance of Holi. The inauguration of program was with an amazing collage of poetries and songs of Rabindranath Tagore. That sweetest chorus at the very commencement contented our heart with a feeling of spring. The blooming of the students reminds us the sprouts of a new threshold. Then it was followed by the wonderful dance performances and heart-felt songs by the students. There were also overwhelming involvements of the mentors to inspire the pupils to sustain the flowering of their passion at every circumstances of life. The most attractive and longed performance of the day was the fabulous poetry ‘Harikhela’ of Rabindranath Tagore, which was dramatized and enacted diligently by the students. The excellence throughout the entire performances of the students depicts their talents and dedication, which is extraordinary as well as their concentration in studies. Besides, all wearing Yellowish Sarees, along with Red, Green and other dazzling colours made the day vibrant and enriched. The entire event was wrapped with an enjoyable environment for all.

While moving forward to the colourful Sunset of this day, by promoting unity, respect and sustainability, in this Holi celebration we created memories that students will cherish for lifelong. This colourful day reminds us that life should be enjoyed with colours, love and enormous laughter.

Training is all about developing the candidates' skill and knowledge to perform the job roles better. Practical segment of every training programme is the most important element of the training because it helps the students to become more confident in their capabilities and prepares them for new challenges. When candidates are engaged in hands-on training. They learn how to perform in their respective job roles more effectively and it opens doors to future opportunities. It is encouraging for everyone involved. On 23rd February'25 students of Guest Service Executive batch of Brainware Skills (Sabita Devi Education Trust) under the project of DDU-GKY participated in a casual training programme at ‘The Westin’, Kolkata which provides 5-star category ambience for both business and leisure travelers.

February 14th, a day of Fervent Love celebrated worldwide, turned into a Horrific Nightmare for Indians in 2019 when Kashmir witnessed a gruesome attack in Pulwama, Kashmir.

At Brainware Skills, students of Brainware University gathered to observe the Black Day - a day etched in Indian history to remember the fallen heroes, expressing their grief and paying tribute to their sacrifice. The day is not merely a commemoration; being an Indian, the tragedy deeply impacted each of us, stirring strong emotions of anger, sorrow, and a heightened resolve to stand against terrorism.
We firmly believe that for the students, this observation can be a valuable learning experience about patriotism, the importance of national unity, and the need to support peace efforts globally.
The programme began with a minute of silence to pay respects to the martyrs, followed by a heartfelt speech from the Mentors, highlighting the significance of the day. Everyone participated in the ceremony by wearing black ribbons as a symbol of solidarity. Students sang patriotic songs and recited poetry. The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to stand strong against terrorism and helped instill a sense of patriotism and responsibility in all of the Pupils.

A person’s mother tongue is often deeply intertwined with their cultural identity and heritage. It reflects the traditions, values, customs, and history of a particular community or region. Preserving and using one’s mother tongue helps individuals maintain a strong sense of self and connection to their roots.

Proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999, International Mother Language Day, observed on February 21st, is a global event that promotes linguistic diversity and multilingual education, commemorating the sacrifice of students in Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) in 1952, who fought for the recognition of Bengali as an official language. This day highlights the importance of preserving and promoting native languages, ensuring they continue to thrive in the modern world.

Our devoted Students of Brainware Skills celebrated that day through various Projects with their ingenious thoughts, recited poems in elevated voice, and sang the compassionate songs regarding the day.

They also arranged a speech session enriched in their native languages, which included Bengali, Nagpuri, Hindi, Odiya, Bhojpuri, Santhal, Uduk, Rajbongshi, Oraon, Assamese, representing the diversity of each language. Inspired by the Mentors, they took a firm oath to respect and represent their own mother-tongue to the world. It was not only a day celebrated with grace towards our mother-tongue, but also to remind us of the power of language in shaping history, culture, and identity.
This memorable day came to an end with the spell bound magic of the mesmerizing song of Dwijendralal Roy (Dhana Dhanya Puspe Bhora), chanted whole heartedly by all present there.
