A Delightful Day of Fun and Learning

On 9th January 2025, the students of Classes I and II enjoyed a day of fun and frolic at Princeton Club, Kolkata. Brimming with excitement, they participated in an array of activities fostering social interaction, skill development and recreation.

A variety of indoor and outdoor games were organised for the children and the bouncy castle emerged as a favourite. The young learners, unaware at the time, absorbed valuable life lessons through play and camaraderie making the day a perfect blend of enjoyment and learning.

‘Spellympic 2024’, an Inter School Spelling and Word Building Contest was held on 16th December in Birla High School, Mukundapur. The event was aimed to promote language skills, vocabulary enhancement and healthy competition among students. A total of 20 reputed schools across the city participated. After a tough contest, Sushila Birla Girls’ School was declared as the first runner-up. Our team comprised Pavika Dalmia of Class IV, Aashi Bhatera and Aanya Gupta of Class V who made us proud with their performance which was a reflection of their dedication, hard work and most importantly, team spirit. They were wholeheartedly supported by the senior students of our school.

On 20th December 2024, Sushila Birla Girls' School organised the Annual Sports Day at Gitanjali Stadium. The meet was declared open by the Chief Guest, Brigadier P. Sunil Kumar, SM, at present posted at HQ Eastern Command at Fort William. Brig P. Sunil Kumar has had an illustrious career, having been awarded Sena Medal for Gallantry, twice. The occasion was also graced by other dignitaries, guests, ex-teachers, parents and students.

The day began with the march past of the four houses, resplendent in their house colours. A plethora of races saw the competitive and sportsman spirit rule. The junior school children participated in novelty races, cheered on by their parents. No sports day is complete without the ex-students' race, parents' race and staff's race. The day drew to a close with the declaration of the much-awaited result with the Chalukya House winning the dual trophies for March Past and Sports.

On 18th and 19th December 2024, the Lower Nursery, Upper Nursery and Lower KG students celebrated Christmas with hearts full of excitement and joy. Dressed in adorable outfits of red, green and white, they looked like little bundles of festive cheer!

The day began with happy chatter as they sat in a circle and talked about Christmas. After that, a video on the Nativity story helped them understand the magic behind this special day.

Next, the teachers put up a skit named ‘Mr. and Mrs. Claus’ which left the tiny tots enthralled. The students sang Christmas carols, crafted and decorated little Christmas trees and enjoyed yummy homemade treats packed with love from their families. The Lower KG students also solved an AI worksheet helping Rudolf reach his sleigh. The day ended with the little ones twirling, jumping and clapping to cheerful Christmas tunes, spreading joy all around.

The celebration was truly magical, filled with laughter, creativity and lots of happy moments that will be cherished forever.

On 18th December 2024, the Upper KG Christmas Assembly was a heartwarming celebration filled with joy and festive fun! The students’ delightful performances through a Christmas story taught the true meaning of giving, sharing and kindness.

Parents beamed with pride as their children spoke confidently on stage. The Christmas cards, made during the arts and crafts sessions, decorated the stage, highlighting their creativity and festive spirit in a meaningful way.
