The 88th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Mahajati Sadan was celebrated with great grandeur on 19 August 2026. The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Ms. Purnima Chakraborty.

A total of 12 schools from different districts of West Bengal participated in the programme, among which St. Paul’s Mission School was one of the participating institutions.

The students of St. Paul’s Mission School presented a cultural programme based on the theme “Vande Mataram – Matri Vandana”, featuring recitation followed by dance performances.

At the beginning of the programme, the school’s teacher, Ms. Sashwati Bhattacherji, recited her self composed poem, which was followed by a dance presentation based on three different renditions of “Vande Mataram,” the National Song of India.

The entire dance presentation of St. Paul’s Mission School was coordinated and directed by the school’s teacher, Mr. Rahul Roy, and teacher, Ms. Sashwati Bhattacherji.

The school’s overall presentation was highly appreciated by the audience and received widespread acclaim for its artistic excellence and meaningful portrayal of patriotism and devotion to the motherland.

On August 14th, the prestigious Calcutta University Institute Hall came alive with extraordinary talent, color, and harmony as St. Paul’s Mission School hosted The Indian Cultural Evening, themed “Rhythms of Change.” 🎭🎶

"Rhythms of Change" explored how India’s cultural fabric evolves across generations, tracing the shift from timeless traditions to the modern digital age of social media, online apps, and Gen Z culture. Alongside this cultural transition, it showcased the evolution of Indian songs over time—moving gracefully from golden classical melodies and nostalgic retro to dynamic modern fusion and viral pop. Ultimately, the theme highlighted how the wisdom of old traditions and the energy of new trends unite to make India a uniquely vibrant and great nation.

It was an absolute privilege to welcome our distinguished dignitaries for the evening:
Chief Guest: Mr. Raj Barman, renowned Bollywood & Tollywood playback singer, whose presence truly inspired our young artists!
Guest of Honour: The Most Rev. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Moderator of the Church of North India and Bishop of Calcutta, who graced us with his blessings and encouraging words.

Around 270 students- from Class 2 to class 12 poured their hearts into every performance.

From the soulful voices of our school choir and electrifying dance routines to thought-provoking dramatic acts, the audience was left spellbound as traditional roots met modern expression on stage! 💃🕺🎭
A monumental thank you to our hardworking students, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents who made this grand evening an overwhelming success! 🌟

A Celebration of Freedom and Young India
St. Paul’s Mission School Celebrates the 80th Independence Day and 150 Years of Vande Mataram
St. Paul’s Mission School celebrated the 80th Independence Day and 150 years of Vande Mataram with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The programme was graced by Chief Guest Mr Prosenjit Poddar, Officer-in-Charge of Muchipara Police Station.
In the presence of students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff, the celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by a vibrant cultural programme.
Students of the Serpentine Lane Junior Section and Amherst Street Junior Section captivated the audience with their colourful and talented performances. The programme also witnessed the senior students wholeheartedly presenting choral recitations, songs and dances, adding depth and grandeur to the celebration.
The spontaneous participation, confidence and talent of the students reflected the promise of a bright India that will soon flourish in the hands of its young generation.
