In the wake of the horrific r**e and murder at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, we take the outrage, anger, disgust and fear we are all feeling to take a stand and demand justice, better working conditions for doctors and a larger systemic change to end this inhumane brutality.
Let us not stop protesting until we see the change. And we must be a part of this change and recognise what we can do to enable this. We believe it is imperative to create a safe space for survivors to share their stories and find support. We know this is a very sensitive and painful topic that can be difficult and triggering for many.
Please know that you are not alone and we stand with you. Our DMs are open for anyone who needs support.
Further, if you wish to anonymously share that which you have been unable to speak about previously, we would be glad to help you amplify your voice.

"Sometimes the shame is not the beatings, not the r**e.
The shaming is in being asked to stand judgment."
~ Meena Kandasamy
The Dalit movement has been instrumental in challenging the caste system and advocating for the rights of Dalit individuals. It is necessary that we recognise the importance of Dalit History Month, as it underscores the ongoing struggle for equal rights and representation for Dalit communities in India.

Foundation for Economic Rehabilitation of Rural Youth (FERRY) is a non-political, non-profit organisation. It is dedicated towards providing basic employable skills in parts of rural West Bengal. They currently operate in Rampurhat (Birbhum), Baidyapur (Bardhaman) and Khanyan (Hooghly). They provide various short vocational training courses for unemployed youth, with a special focus on young women forced by widowhood or desertion, to get jobs or set up businesses that shall help them financially support themselves and their families.
FERRY exists to train people and their training is absolutely free. Trainees are provided with all they need to serve the market in a particular capacity so that they gain fast income and are able to break away from the cycle of financial dependency. They aim to keep their scope of activities restricted so that every trainee receives the maximum benefit, and all their funding is invested in training.
At present, some of the training courses at FERRY include their tailoring and sewing course, beauticiansâ training, computer training, and electriciansâ training. A large number of the trainees are young women from rural Bengal, and popular courses, like the tailoring and sewing course, currently underway at Baidyapur, empower them towards financial self-sufficiency.
Jadavpur University Womenâs Conclave is delighted to announce their upcoming fundraiser in association with FERRY. Donations will be accepted online, via UPI. Contributions of all sizes are welcomed gratefully. All proceeds will be put towards providing materials for the sewing training courses such as tailoring scissors, pins, large scales, â
scales, chalk, ribbons, thread etc. With the help of your contributions, we aim to help fund the courses offered by the non-profit organisation.
We, at JUWC, look forward to your kind contributions and invite one and all to support FERRY and empower their cause.
