Greater Kolkata College of Engineering and Management

Students of 2nd Year and 3rd Year Computer Science and Engineering participated in a VAMRR immersive 3D and VR summit on 24th June 2017 at the iLead Campus, Kolkata.

The requirements and new technologies regarding hardware were discussed by R Sasikumar, Nvidia, and K. Shaw, HP.

The recent practices on games, advertisements, movies, medical analysis, and real estate of 3D and virtual realities were enlightened using demons by Virtualinfocom, 88 Pictures and Entertainment, and Bipper.

The Intra-College Football Tournament was held in the college ground on 21st April, 2017. The Diploma 1st Year won the champions trophy whereas Diploma Third year stopped at runner up position.

The intra-college Cricket Tournament 2017 was held on 20th April, 2017 at college ground. Diploma EE 2nd Year secured the winner trophy whereas Diploma EE 3rd Year secured runner up trophy.

Interactive Session of Pre-Final Year CSE, IT and ECE students ( 2018 pass out) with Tech Mahindra was held on 20th April, 2017 at NIT. The students of Greater Kolkata College of Engineering and Management have provided power point presentation on Artificial Intelligence which has been guided by Saswati Naskar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE.

seminar on “Prospects of Higher Education in Engineering”

Its our pleasure to inform you all that Greater Kolkata College of Engineering & Management, Baruipur (JIS Group) conducted a seminar on “Prospects of Higher Education in Engineering” on April 8, 2017, Saturday, at the college Auditorium.

The seminar was attended by over 70 delegates comprising of Head Masters/Mistresses and teachers of 50 schools from South 24 Parganas and South Kolkata.

Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) S. Sengupta, Director of the college who set the tone of the seminar by highlighting the present scenario of engineering education and its future prospects in respect of employment potential.

Dr. Amalendu Basu, Director of Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal and Prof. Subrata Kumar Dey, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, Moulana Abul Kalam Azaad University of Technology graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor respectively. They emphasized the role of teachers in guiding the students at school stage itself to choose the correct vocation in a realistic manner.

An informative presentation was given by Mr. Bidyut Mazumder, AGM-Marketing, JIS Group about various facets of JIS Group Educational Initiatives.

In the Open House session, the delegates actively interacted with the speakers with questions on various issues related to higher education in engineering and its prospects.

Vote of Thanks was moved by Dr. Debayan Mandal, Principal (Acting) of the college.

"Orientation workshop for top 253 participants of Use of ICT in Education for Online and Blended Learning" on 25th and 26th March,2017 by IIT-Bombay for Associate Faculty

After being two top participants in Four Week AICTE approved FDP by IIT Bombay on “Use of ICT in Education for Online and Blended Learning” offered by IIT Bombay, a learning initiative of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, SAJAL SASMAL and MRITYUNJOY KUMAR RAY was invited as associate faculties in "Orientation workshop for top 253 participants of Use of ICT in Education for Online and Blended Learning" on 25th and 26th March, 2017 by IIT-Bombay. In “Use of ICT in Education for Online and Blended Learning” –FDP IIT Bombay introduced about advanced teaching learning methodology like -Design of Learning Objectives, Active Learning-Think-Pair-Share (TPS activity), Peer Instruction (PI), Technology Integration-Visualization in Classroom, Digital Blooms Taxonomy, Lesson Planning, Designing a Flipped Classroom, Online Content Creation, Improving Learner Collaboration, Using Moodle for Interaction with Students, Web Presence for Faculty, OER Creation. In Orientation workshop IIT-Bombay invited to be an associate faculty to help them in the conduct of such FDPs in future. Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE interacted with the participants, Head of the institutions of the top participants and told the importance of such FDPs. He also told AICTE is going notify all AICTE approved institutes and universities that such FDP will be mandatory for all 3.5 lakh faculties all over the country. At least a faculty member has to complete such two FDP in every five years. In this Orientation workshop Prof. D. B. Phatak project coordinator (PI T10KT project) explain the present scenario of engineering teaching and told how we can make teaching more technology advance, interactive and use of ICT. There was a brief discussion on peer assessment by Mr. Jayakrishnan followed by Lab activities. Dr. Sajjan Dixit and Dr. Sushant Raktade show the demonstration on A-VIEW, how to conduct an online course. Finally the workshop concludes with a discussion on forming collaborative teams.

Avijeet Paul, student of 3rd Year CSE presented a paper on "A Novel Assistance for Auto-Generating Flexible Transaction" in front of three members expert panel in the Annual Meet of FOSET held on 19th March 2017 at GNIT, Campus. The second and third authors of this paper are Raunaq Guha and Supriya Chakraborty, respectively.
