We were honored to host Dr. Rupak Majumdar from the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems at the CK Majumdar Memorial Lecture. Dr. Majumdar shared his groundbreaking research on Systematic Concurrency Exploration for Distributed Services, highlighting its crucial role in keeping cloud systems running smoothly.

In his talk, Dr. Majumdar introduced innovative techniques for verifying the correctness of large, distributed systems through systematic concurrency exploration. He emphasized the importance of safety and liveness properties and drew fascinating analogies between particle physics and distributed systems—demonstrating how techniques used to study particles can help us understand and manage the complex behavior of cloud services.

Mr. Subhajit Kar from the group of Dr. Ramkrishna Das has been awarded a certificate of excellence with a winning cash prize of INR 10,000 by the Vice Chancellor, BCKV (Nadia) for his Outstanding Research Paper (Unveiling Galactic Wolf Rayt Stars through Machine Learning) in the category of Physical Sciences at the 7th Regional Science Congress in Region-5 (Howrah, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas) jointly organized by BCKV, Nadia, and the Department of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, Govt. of West Bengal during 14-15th January '2025.

🌟 Exciting Milestone in Astronomy! 🌟

At an elevation of 600 meters above ground level, nestled away from city lights and surrounded by the serene beauty of nature, the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS) has proudly unveiled its first-ever astronomical observatory — a cutting-edge facility for groundbreaking research in astronomy and astrophysics in Eastern India! 🔭✨

The observatory is equipped with a 14-inch diameter telescope, with plans underway to install a 1-meter diameter telescope soon. Additionally, a research scholar from Sidhu Kanu Birsa University tracks the night sky daily, collecting valuable data on atmospheric turbulence. The S.N. Bose Centre has also signed an MOU with SKB University for the observatory’s operation and resource sharing.

This state-of-the-art observatory is set to revolutionize scientific research in the region, offering an unparalleled platform for cutting-edge studies in space sciences.

The official inauguration took place today, with Shri Vishvajit Sahay, Financial Adviser from the Department of Science & Technology (DST), alongside the Director of SNBNCBS, Chairman of the Governing Body, Academic & Research Programme Advisory Committee, and esteemed faculty members from SNBNCBS.

This marks a monumental step in the advancement of scientific research and innovation in the region, opening doors for incredible discoveries and progress in the world of astronomy! 🚀🔬

We were honored to host Prof. David Cahen from the Weizmann Institute of Science for an insightful talk at the Bose Colloquium. He shared his groundbreaking work on electron transport mechanisms in proteins and their potential use as bio-compatible electronic components.

🔬 Highlights:

- Evidence of long-range, near temperature-independent electron transport through proteins.
- Exploration of the exciting possibility of leveraging proteins in electronic applications.
