আজ NIOS Board এর under এ Open Basic Education Curriculum এর অন্তর্গত Level:A & Level:B এর final পরীক্ষা শেষ হলো। Nirvana school এর আট জন পরীক্ষার্থী এই পরীক্ষায় অংশ গ্রহণ করলো। ভারতবর্ষের প্রায় দেড় কোটি শারীরিক বা মানসিক প্রতিবন্ধী শিশুদের মধ্যে মাত্র 1% শিশু কোনো প্রকার স্কুলে যায়। এমতাবস্থায় Nirvana family র প্রতিটি সদস্যদের কাছে এটা একটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ Milestone।সমাজের একটা বৃহৎ অংশের মানুষের ধারণা,বিশেষ চাহিদা সম্পন্ন শিশুরা শুধু Life skills শিখবে। এদের পড়াশোনা করানো অর্থহীন কারণ এরা তো ভবিষ্যতে কোন কর্ম জগতে প্রবেশ করার সুযোগ ই পাবে না। তাই Autistic শিশুরা শুধু প্রদীপ, ধূপকাঠি বানাবে বা সেলাই করবে, এর বাইরে কোন job opportunity এদের জন্য প্রায় নেই। এই প্রথাগত ধারণার বাইরে গিয়ে আমাদের উদ্যোগ Whole Child Developmental Plan।যেখানে Life skills এর সাথে Academics ও বিভিন্ন Therapy র অন্তর্ভুক্তিকরণ। কারণ আজ যারা শিশু কাল তারা যুবক/যুবতী ও পরবর্তীতে প্রাপ্ত বয়স্ক Adult এ পরিনত হবে। সুতরাং বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণের দ্বারা স্বাধীন ভাবে যাতে এরা বেঁচে থাকতে পারে সেটাই আমাদের লক্ষ। নিঃসন্দেহে কাজ টা সহজ নয়, কিন্তু আমরা আমাদের প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাব। কারণ আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা প্রতিটি শিশুর মৌলিক অধিকার। সম মনস্ক সকল অভিভাবকদের পাশে থাকার অনুরোধ রইলো।

প্রতিবন্ধী অধিকার আইন-2016 (RPWD-2016) এর লক্ষ্যের সাথে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে আমরা সকলকে সচেতনতা ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য এবং একসাথে হাত মেলানোর জন্য অনুরোধ করছি। আসুন সকলে এই সচেতনতা ছাড়িয়ে দেওয়ার লক্ষে এক সাথে হাত বাড়াই। আপনাদের প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপ বিশেষ চাহিদা সম্পন্ন শিশু ও প্রতিবন্ধী মানুষেদের উন্নতির জন্য বিশেষ প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে।
Today, marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).Every year on December 3rd, the day goes beyond awareness as it is a reminder that disability is not inability, and every human being deserves dignity, opportunity, and acceptance.
