In a major international escalation, Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been taken into U.S. custody after a daring raid.

Venezuela is at the center of global attention after a dramatic operation in Caracas led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. U.S. forces reportedly detained Maduro and transported him to New York, where he now faces legal action, triggering intense political and diplomatic reactions worldwide. In the aftermath of the raid, Venezuela's Supreme Court moved quickly, appointing Vice-President Delcy Rodríguez as interim leader, while allies and rival nations remain sharply divided over the move.

The Venezuelan Defense Minister issued a defiant statement, refusing to surrender and vowing that the armed forces would "fight to win" against any external pressure or attempts to assume control of the nation. Emphasizing loyalty to the state and national sovereignty, he declared that Venezuela's military would stand its ground, protect its people, and defend the country's resources including its vital oil and gold reserves in what he described as a decisive battle for the nation's future.
