Beating the Street. Consensus Estimate. Initiating Coverage. Re-rating. De-rating.

If you’re exploring Equity Research, these terms are more than industry jargon. They explain how analysts interpret information, form expectations, and ultimately arrive at a Buy, Hold or Sell call.

And the important part? The market doesn’t just care about whether a company performed well. It cares about how that performance compares with what was already expected.

Save this for later and share it with someone exploring Equity Research.

Dry Powder. LBO. PortCo. Exit.

If you’re exploring Private Equity, these are some of the terms you’ll hear long before you start talking about billion-dollar buyouts.

Each one tells you something about how PE actually works: where the money comes from, how companies are acquired, what happens after the investment, and ultimately, how the fund makes its return.

The jargon is only the surface. The real story is in the strategy behind it.

Pitch Book. League Table. Bulge Bracket. Boutique. Chinese Wall.

If these terms sound familiar but you’re not quite sure what they mean, you’re already hearing the language of investment banking.

These aren’t just industry buzzwords. They describe how banks win deals, compete with each other, structure teams and manage sensitive information.

Understanding the jargon is one small step towards understanding how the industry actually works.

Save this for later and share it with someone exploring investment banking.

Cash flow. Unit economics. Pricing. Working capital. Financial modelling.

They may not be the most talked-about parts of entrepreneurship, but they can make the difference between a business that grows and one that runs out of money.

The ability to read cash, know whether a customer is actually profitable, price with confidence, unlock cash trapped in the business, and test decisions before making them are skills every entrepreneur can build.

The good news? None of them are “born with it” skills. They can be learned.

CFA and FRM may overlap, but they are not the same.

While subjects like Quants, Fixed Income, and Derivatives appear in both, the depth and overall scope are different.

CFA goes deeper into areas like Equity, Corporate Finance, Financial Statement Analysis, and Portfolio Management, while FRM focuses more extensively on different areas of risk management.

So, if you have already completed FRM and are considering CFA, don’t decide based only on the overlap.

Look at the syllabus, understand what additional depth CFA offers, and then decide whether it aligns with the career and knowledge you want to build.

Want to understand CFA and FRM better before deciding? Check the CFA and FRM playlists through the links for everything you need to know about both courses.

For any professional exam, shortcuts won’t get you through.

You need strong accuracy, complete syllabus coverage, and proper revision. And when it comes to FMP & Valuation, the order you study matters too.

Fixed Income and Derivatives connect across both subjects, so following the right sequence can make the concepts much easier to understand and retain.

Study the subjects as connected concepts, not isolated chapters.

Don’t try to master every Quant chapter equally.

Build a rock-solid grip on the 70–80% you’re confident in, revise the entire syllabus, and practice the tricky areas enough to understand the approach. Conceptual clarity + smart revision = exam-ready. 📚📊

FRM can open doors to a career in risk. But clearing the exam is only the first step.

From banking and treasury to credit risk, rating agencies and financial institutions, there’s a growing scope for risk professionals in India. Building a career in risk takes relevant experience, patience, and a strong understanding of how financial institutions actually work.

So if you're planning to pursue FRM, think beyond the certification. Build the experience along with it. Save this reel if you're considering FRM as your next career move. 📌
