Why I Started Revolucion
After 15 years in cybersecurity, I realized the biggest barrier to hiring wasn't talent — it was access. Here's why I founded Revolucion.
I had just finished a security audit for a mid-sized company in Kolkata. Their entire IT team — five smart, hardworking people — had no idea how to respond to a basic phishing attack. Not because they were careless. Because nobody had ever taught them.
That same week, I got three calls from IT professionals in their late 20s and early 30s asking me: "Vishal, how do I break into cybersecurity? I've been in networking/support/IT for 5 years. I want to move up. I just don't know how."
I told them what I knew. A few certifications. Some free resources. Study hard.
But I realized: that's not enough. The path was unclear, expensive, and disconnected from actual hiring needs. Most courses were either too theoretical or too expensive or just badly designed for working professionals.
So in 2014, I opened Revolucion.
Not to make a quick buck. But because I believed — and still believe — that India has an enormous untapped pool of cybersecurity talent sitting in IT support teams, BPO companies, networking firms, and help desks. People who think they're "too non-technical" for security. They're not. They just need the right roadmap.
Till date we've trained 500+ students. Many of them are now SOC analysts, pen testers, security consultants, and team leads.

If it’s free, you’re probably the product—or the target.
>> Free tools, cracked software, giveaways, and “too good to be true” offers often come bundled with hidden costs: malware, data harvesting, or silent access to your device and accounts.
💡 Download apps and software only from trusted sources. Be cautious of free trials that ask for excessive permissions or payment details upfront. If an offer creates excitement and urgency, pause and verify.
Attackers don’t charge upfront—they collect later. Cyber Security Matters.

Not every urgent request deserves an urgent response.
>> Attackers thrive on pressure.
>> Messages that demand immediate action—payment requests, account warnings, last-minute approvals—are designed to short-circuit thinking and trigger mistakes.
💡 When urgency shows up, slow down. Verify requests through a separate channel, especially when money, credentials, or sensitive data are involved. Real organizations allow verification. Scammers don’t.
Urgency is a tactic, not a signal of importance. Cyber Security Matters.

Oversharing online makes attackers’ jobs easier.
>> Attackers don’t always need malware.
>> They often build attacks using information people freely share online—job roles, travel plans, email formats, team structures, even photos of badges or screens.
💡 Think before you post. Public details can be combined to impersonate you, guess security questions, or craft highly believable scams. What seems harmless alone can be powerful when stitched together.
You don’t need to be secretive—just intentional. Cyber Security Matters.

Your data is safe only if it exists in more than one place.
>> Data loss doesn’t always come from hackers.
>> Devices fail, files get deleted, ransomware encrypts everything, and accidents happen faster than people expect. Without a backup, recovery becomes impossible.
💡 Keep at least one backup that’s not permanently connected to your device or network. Test it occasionally. A backup you’ve never checked is just a hopeful assumption.
Backups turn disasters into inconveniences. No backup turns them into shutdowns. Cyber Security Matters.

Updates are not optional—they’re repairs.
>> Most cyberattacks don’t rely on brand-new tricks.
>> They exploit known weaknesses in systems that were never updated.
>> Attackers actively scan the internet for outdated software because it’s easy and reliable.
💡 When your device or app asks for an update, it’s often fixing security holes, not just adding features. Delaying updates leaves the door open for attacks that are already well understood and widely abused.
Ignoring updates doesn’t save time—it borrows trouble. Cyber Security Matters.

Your inbox isn’t the only place attackers talk to you.
Phishing no longer lives only in email. Attackers now use SMS, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and even calendar invites to impersonate banks, colleagues, recruiters, or support teams. The platform feels familiar, so the guard drops.
💡 Treat unexpected messages the same way you treat suspicious emails. Verify the sender through another channel, avoid clicking shortened links, and never share one-time codes or passwords in chats.
If someone needs urgency and secrecy, it’s usually not for your benefit. Cyber Security Matters.

If a login page feels rushed, it’s probably a trap.
Attackers don’t always steal passwords by hacking systems. They often steal them by copying real login pages and pushing links through email, SMS, or messaging apps. The page looks familiar, the message feels urgent, and the mistake happens in seconds.
💡 Always check the website address before entering credentials. Watch for misspellings, extra words, or shortened links. When a message pressures you to “act now,” pause and open the site directly instead of clicking the link.
Most breaches start with trust, not technology. Question urgency. Cyber Security Matters.
