Every comittee member(except the dance crew) shall attend the event in traditional dress (pyjama-punjabi for male, saree for female).

SPECTRUM 2014 – 15TH MARCH
ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE, KOLKATA
DEPT. OF PHYSICS.

Events:
9.30am-10.00am: Inaugural speech (By Fr. Principal), HOD’s speech, Conveners’ speech.
10.00am-12.45pm: Paper Presentation.
12.45pm-1.15pm: Interesting videos regarding modern theories (String theory, Dark matter and Dark energy)
1.15pm-2.00pm: Lunch Break + (Prelims for quiz)
2.00pm-3.30pm: Quiz (Intellixia round within the quiz regarding IQ)
3.30pm-4.00pm: Video Presentation and Prize Distribution.
4.00pm-6.30pm: Cultural Programme

**Poster Presentation – Posters will be displayed in the main parlour on that day.

Poster presentation:

1) The students need to mail the soft copy of their posters to [email protected] by 12th March.
Or,
Students can personally submit their posters at our college’s Physics department by 12th March.[Timings *].

2) Topic for this event is anything related to physics.

3) Sizes of the posters must not exceed 4 by 2 feet.

4) Posters can be in the form of Chart papers(by hand) or Printed form.

5) The posters will be scrutinized by the conveners of our event- Dr. Kaushik Ghosh and Dr. Indranath Chaudhury, and only the selected few posters will be displayed on 15th March.

6) Selected students will be informed before 14th, via email or text message. [So students are requested to check their mails regularly.]

7) Prizes will be given to 1st ,2nd and 3rd.

Quiz:

1) Each quiz team should comprise 3 members.

2) The Quiz will be exclusively on Physics + 1 general science+ 1 round on I.Q..

3) Quiz teams will be selected through prelims on a specified day before spectrum( the day will be informed to you through phone).

4) Teams finally selected will be informed through email or phone.

5) The selected teams must report to Fr. Depelchin Auditorium in St.Xavier’s College by 12:45 on 15th March(i.e. on the day of Spectrum).

Photography and Videography:

1) For both Videography and photography topic is “Science through the lens”.

2) Time limit for Video is less than 10 minutes.

3) Students willing to participate in videography competition will need to send in their videos by email to [email protected] before 12th March.
Or,
Students can submit their videos (by hand), in C.D.s, D.V.D.s or other 2ndary storage devices, at St. Xavier’s College’s Department of Physics by 12th March.[Timings *].

4) In photography competition each student can submit at most 5 photos.

5) Students, who are willing to participate in photography competition need to submit their photos at [email protected] before 12th of March.

Paper presentation:

1) Each student will get atmost 10 minutes for speaking.

2) The students have to present their papers in soft copy ( Microsoft Power Point format preferably). [Scanned copy of their original, hand-writen paper is not acceptable]

3) Students will get the facility of projectors and writing board.

4) The topic of discussion essentially needs to be in the field of Physics. Students are welcome to present any project/thesis (preferably which is their own and not copied from somewhere else)

5) The students need to mail the soft copy of their papers to [email protected] by 12th March.
Or,
The students can submit the soft copy of their papers, in C.D.s, D.V.D.s or other 2ndary storage devices, to the Department of Physics of St.Xavier’s College by 12th March.[Timings *]

6) The papers will be scrutinized by the conveners of our event- Dr. Kaushik Ghosh and Dr. Indranath Chaudhury, and only the selected few students will be able to present their papers on stage on 15th March.

CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION SHALL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW AT 2:00 P.M . THOSE WHO HAVE REGISTERED, MUST COME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS, 2ND FLOOR TO KNOW THE ROOM NO. OF THE EVENT! so people, lets get creative :)
