Mr Leslie Francis D’Gama, was formerly Vice President and Head – Trainer Development Group of IL&FS Education and Technology Services Limited, an organisation committed to enhancing the quality and delivery of education across all learning segments. Leslie worked at IL&FS from Nov 1999 to Mar 2012 and managed a team of dedicated training professionals across all branches of the company. His focus
is on developing training of trainers in various disciplines – a passionate Trainers’ Trainer. He holds an M.A., a B.Ed, and the Diploma in Training & Development from Indian Society for Training & Development, New Delhi and is an accredited FIRO-B Practitioner (Consulting Psychologists Press). He has been accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority in conducting sessions for trainers on “Planning and Delivering Sessions to Groups”. He has also attended training in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) conducted by ISABS (Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Sciences) and Competency Mapping conducted by National HRD Network, among several other workshops and seminars. His experience in Training and Development includes the design and ex*****on of various programs, notably the World Links program for the World Bank, Instructional Design for courses accredited by the Commonwealth of Learning and core-skills workshops for Software Engineers. He has also developed a suite of soft-skills programs under the generic title Work Champs. In the area of vocational skills he has been a core team member for creating content for retail sales management, financial inclusion and computer operations. In the area of Training of Trainers he has designed and implemented four programs of 3-5 days’ duration each. I-FACET is a program for developing Facilitation Skills; I-TRAIN was developed as a distance learning program with practical inputs for IGNOU School of Excellence; I-TRAIN (versions to be renamed) has also been accepted as an accredited certificate program by the Scottish Qualification Authority; MASTERY is a program for developing training skills in vocational skills trainers, especially working with rural youth. He has conducted training in Language, Communications, Team work, Leadership and Interpersonal Skills at institutions such as Pricewaterhouse Coopers, British Council, IISWBM, Tata Telecom, Eastern Institute of Management, SkyTech Solutions, Ushacomm, Alstom, Child Rights and You (CRY) and educational institutions such as Nirma Institute of Technology, Gujarat and Jadavpur University Management College. Leslie’s focus is in helping people developing themselves through focussed HRD interventions in organizations, training of line managers and supervisors and building capacity for an organization to sustain its own growth in human terms. In the last three years he has teamed up with Himalayan Footprints to conduct outbound training activities for corporate and other organizations. He has worked with executives from industries as varied as IT, Tea Gardens, Real Estate, Engineering and FMCG. He was formerly a senior teacher (Computer Science and Maths) and Systems Administrator at St Xavier’s Collegiate School during which time he studied the differences between the learning styles of high school students and adults and created his own model of participative learning. He was Scoutmaster of St Xavier’s and District Scoutmaster of the First Calcutta District for over a decade during which he conducted several multi-group camps and treks at various locations around East India. He is currently a life member of both National HRD Network and ISTD. At ISTD he was Vice Chairman 2011-12 and Chairman of the Kolkata Chapter 2012-2013.
