Asha Niketan, Kolkata Asha Niketan, Kolkata is run with residential facilities and sheltered workshops. We are people, wit Currently there are 19 children under this Outreach program.

We take pleasure in introducing ourselves as “FMR India Asha Niketan - Kolkata”, serving people with learning disabilities. Asha Niketan, Kolkata was founded in 1973 by Fellowship with Mentally Re****ed (India), a Society registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 and is affiliated to L’Arche International having its headquarter in France. The program is run from two premises

- ‘Adi Bari’ and ‘Thakur Bari’, located at 37, Tangra Road and at 24/1B, Pottery Road, respectively, in the eastern part of Kolkata, with residential facilities for our core-members and sheltered workshops where they work with similarly circumstanced day workers. At present we have 15 residential core-members and 37 day-workers. There is also a Day Care Centre for children with intellectual disabilities, which is attended by 23 children from neighboring areas. We also conduct an Outreach program, to serve the children with severe disabilities who cannot come to our centers.

On 2nd Oct 2023, we mark a special milestone - the 50th anniversary of Asha Niketan Kolkata. From It's humble beginnings in 1973 to a thriving place where love, care, and dignity have thrived for half a century, touching countless lives.

Asha Niketan reminds us of the true values in life - love, acceptance, and human connection. Let's carry these values forward to create a more inclusive and compassionate world.

We convey our deep appreciation and gratitude to "We Pledge Foundation" for thier kind contribution of essential groceries/ nutrisional support worth Rs 10,974/- for our severely disabled members of different projects. Thier kind benevolence at this time of need is a beacon of hope and inspiration for us to continue our relentless endeavours towards mitigation of sufferings of the poor, deprived and disabled from BPL families.
We are thankful to all members of "We Pledge foundation" specially Mr Arkadeep Bharatwaj & Friends who have been instrumental in organgazing this support for us and took special initiative.

We are really indebted to Mrs Manisha Doshi who responded to our earnest social media appeals and contributed essential groceries worth Rs 14,300/- for distribution to our severly disabled members from different projects.We are immensely appreciative, touched and humbled by her exemplary benevolence and humanitarian initiatives during the pandemic. It will serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for us in our tireless endeavours to alleviate the sufferings of the poor, deprived and the disabled who are mostly left in the fringes to fend for themselves. We must also take this golden opportunity to cordially invite her and her family to our community when the restriction are over.We also urge our other friends to emulate her example and come forward to help us with essential medicine and groceries support .
