The Department of Applied Psychology, University of Calcutta presents a Webinar on: *"Understanding the Mind in Buddhist Psychology and an Introduction to Mindfulness"* with Dr. Anindya Chatterjee, Psychiatrist, Author and Asia Regional Director - International Development Research Centre, New Delhi.
*Concept Note:*
The webinar will be presented in two parts. The first part will offer an expanation of the nature and functions of the mind in Buddhist psychology. This section will introduce topics such as, primary mind or consciousness, and mental factors associated with the primary mind. This will be followed by some remarks on the model of mind and cognition in Buddhist psychology.
The second part of the webinar will focus on mindfulness, a mental factor. The root text of mindfulness, 'The Great Sutra on Mindfulness' will be presented. This will be followed by a commentary on the role of mindfulness in contemporary psychological therapies.
