The Secretariat is honored to announce the esteemed panel for the Scottish Church College MUN Orientation.
We are delighted to welcome two wonderful individuals whose shared experiences will guarantee a highly fruitful session
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday the 9th August at 6 pm.

Here's a quick insight to our Mentors for your reference,

Saptak Maitra, our former secretary, is now a postgraduate student at the School of Public Policy & Governance of TISS, where he has made a name for himself as a pessimistic realist in an idealist environment. In doing so he has been quarreling with industry leaders and gaining both appreciation and hate. He has had a vast experience of UN committees both as a chair and less a delegate, we are honoured to have him for this event.

Sapnil Biswas is a dynamic force in Indian Committees, with years of experience, as a very successful delegate with over 90% success rate and an EB member in 40+ MUNs, Debates, and Youth Parliaments across India. A Political Science graduate from Scottish Church College, Kolkata, currently pursuing Master's in Political Science at the University of Delhi while working as a Junior Researcher and Editor at The Geostrata, a youth-led foreign policy think tank. He is actively involved in grassroot politics and has worked in the office of an MLA and currently works as Legislative Assistant under an MP. He has attended several conferences under the Government of India as an Invitee, like the 2nd DWG meeting of G20 India. He likes to read and study Indian politics and governance, International Relations, Indic history, Security Studies, and Political Philosophy. Off the field of politics and academics, he is a die-hard Mohun Bagan and Messi fan, with an undying love for good food. We are honoured to have him grace us with this event.

Introducing Rohnit Pandey, General Secretary at the Scottish Church College Debating Society for the year 2026/27.

Rohnit walked into DebSoc on what looked like a completely random weekday in 2025. Looking back, it was probably pre-decided by the stars. A Physics major by degree, he somehow knows more about blockchain governance, carbon markets, WTO dispute settlements, and the International Solar Alliance than most Economics and Political Science students. Ask him about blockchain policy in COP30 or renewable energy financing in the UNFCCC, and he'll answer with the confidence of someone who definitely wasn't supposed to major in Physics.

Unlike most MUNers, Rohnit never really believed in having a "niche." Why pick one committee when you can win all of them? From Indian Committees packed with political chaos to UN committees drowning in international diplomacy, he has somehow mastered every format the circuit has thrown at him. One of the most passionate MUNers you'll ever meet, Rohnit is very, very diplomatic. (Pun absolutely intended)

Outside committee rooms, he's a proud Ravenclaw who could probably recite Harry Potter trivia on command, and an unapologetic Max Verstappen devotee whose Instagram Notes turn into a live race broadcast every Grand Prix weekend, especially when Max wins.

You'll either spot him occupying the last bench in committee, silently plotting the speech that eventually wins Best Delegate, or sitting on the dais deciding who deserves it. There is no known middle ground.

Beyond all the gavels, diplomacy, and dangerously large award collections, Rohnit is genuinely one of the sweetest, kindest people you'll come across. He's the sort of person who's always willing to help, always willing to listen, and somehow makes everyone around him feel at ease. DebSoc couldn't have asked for a better General Secretary, and we're incredibly lucky to have him leading us this session.

We are delighted to have him onboard with us!

Introducing Anoushka Biswas, Executive Officer at the Scottish Church College Debating Society for the year 2026/27.

There's a particular kind of person who walks into a space and somehow makes everyone in it feel like they already belong, no performance, no effort, just an instinct for making people feel seen. That's Anoushka. Whether it's a first-year who's never held a mic before or a senior member deep in prep chaos, she has this uncanny habit of pulling people in rather than letting them hover on the edges.

And reliability is rare enough that when you find it in a person, you notice it. Anoushka is the person you hand the hardest, messiest job to, because you know it'll get done, done well, and done without drama. No chasing, no reminders, no gaps.

But here's the part that really sets her apart: plot her "self-doubt" on the x-axis and her "performance" on the y-axis, and you will get a clean, upward sloping straight line.

You can see this most clearly in her debating trajectory. The person who walked in during her first year and the person standing at the podium today are almost unrecognizable, not because she became someone else, but because she relentlessly refined who she already was. Every round, every loss, every piece of feedback got absorbed and converted into growth. That's the healthiest kind of improvement there is.

If you ever needed a real-world playbook for how to become the best version of yourself, fast, and without burning out or burning bridges, Anoushka IS that playbook.

Introducing Anushka Banerjee, Executive Officer at Scottish Church College Debating Society for the year 2026/27.

Anushka Banerjee is a second-year accounting major fuelled by perpetual panic and a chronic tendency to fool around. She has a hundred hobbies and somehow still manages to convince herself she has time to pick up another one.

The neighbourhood's very own Dr. Dolittle, she'll stop to pet just about every creature she meets on the street.

An Oxford debating enthusiast, she enjoys arguing for the "baje" side of every motion and firmly believes that any inconvenient question simply wasn't in her verbatim.

We're stocked to have her onboard with us!

Introducing Asmita Ghosh, Executive Officer of Scottish Church College Debating Society for the year 2026/27.

Asmita Ghosh is sunshine and flowers, somehow condensed into one human being. People say juggling seventeen things at once is impossible. They clearly haven't met Asmita.

She started debating in her very first month of college and immediately turned into what can only be described as a debate magnet. Every weekend meant travelling across the city, from one college to another, just because there happened to be some Oxford debate.

If there's one thing everyone in the society agrees on, it's that Asmita is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Ask her how to improve at debating, and don't expect a two-minute answer. You'll receive seven YouTube links, her meticulously maintained debating notebook, voice notes, and, if needed, a Google Meet session where she'll patiently explain everything from flag-posting and constructive speeches to the trolley problem, making sure you actually understand it before she lets you leave.

She's also the kind of debating partner everyone hopes to have. (Anoushka can personally vouch for that.)

Outside debating, Asmita is usually found perfecting a mac and cheese pasta recipe, painting something cool, or making everyone around her laugh until their stomach hurts. She somehow manages to be thoughtful, hilarious, endlessly supportive, and ridiculously hardworking all at once.

She also really loves mutton biriyani.

Introducing Koushiki Ghoshal, Undersecretary for Scottish Church College Debating Society for the year 2026/27.

Koushiki Ghosal is a second semester History undergraduate whose fascination with ancient civilizations is rivalled only by her love for paranormal horror. Whether she's buried in 'The Exorcist', eagerly awaiting the next Insidious installment, or hunting down a new food spot, she's happiest chasing the things that intrigue her.

Almost always found at Oxford debates and extempores rather than in MUNs (much to her own relief), she somehow still finds herself back in one after solemnly declaring she's done with them for good.

For all her composure amidst chaos and her mountain-seeking soul, she's also completely incapable of resisting a few quiet hours jamming to qawwalis of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan or with her bunny, Tote..which, frankly, is the only motion she'll never oppose.

We're glad to have her on board with us!

Introducing Rish*t Chakraborty, Social Media Manager for the Scottish Church College Debating Society for the year 2026/27.

He is an author(Published),an Artist and a history undergraduate. He claims himself to be a Jack of no trades and also a master of none.

Despite the self deprecation, you'll catch him writing essays and articles on Substack at ungodly hours and relentlessly building up a merchandise platform.

According to him the best way to design is to eye up cover illustrations of Satyajit Ray, since that is what he specifically nerds out on despite having varying interests.

We are overjoyed to have him onboard with us!
