As we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22nd May, this initiative serves as a timely reminder that every species plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. 🏛️✨ Celebrating Heritage, Inspiring Young Minds ✨🏛️

Students of Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School had the proud opportunity to participate in Heritage Conclave 2026, held on 13th May at the ICCR Auditorium.

The conclave brought together eminent historians, conservationists, environmentalists, artists, filmmakers, and heritage enthusiasts to celebrate and discuss the rich cultural legacy of Kolkata and Bengal.

The event featured engaging and thought-provoking sessions on heritage conservation, cultural tourism, environmental awareness, documentary filmmaking, traditional art forms, and the importance of preserving the city’s historical identity. Distinguished speakers shared their valuable insights, making the programme both educational and deeply inspiring for our students.

Our students participated enthusiastically in the discussions and gained meaningful exposure to the significance of safeguarding heritage and culture for future generations. The conclave encouraged them to appreciate the historical richness of Kolkata and recognize the vital role each citizen plays in preserving our shared legacy.

🎶 Celebrating the Timeless Legacy of Gurudev 🎶🌸

Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School celebrated Rabindra Jayanti with immense joy, devotion, and cultural fervour, paying heartfelt tribute to Rabindranath Tagore.

The programme began with a beautiful composite Gitialekhya by the Primary Section, followed by vibrant Inter-House competitions featuring all four houses—Das, Mitter, Mukherjee, and Sinha.

📖 Class VII Recitation Competition featuring Juta Abishkar, Pujarini, Puratan Bhrityo, and Bimboboti
🎤 Class VIII Solo Song Competition based on Tagore’s Swadesh Parja
💃 Classes IX–X Dance Competition on the theme Prakriti Parja, showcasing the beauty of Spring and Monsoon
📝 A soulful Kabyopath presented by the School Council

The celebration concluded with the entire school joining together to sing “Shara Jibon Dilo Alo,” our beloved school song.

A day filled with poetry, music, dance, and deep appreciation for the enduring literary and cultural heritage of Rabindranath Tagore. 🌿✨

⚖️ Intra-School Moot Court Competition 2026–2027 ⚖️

Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School successfully hosted the Intra-School Moot Court Competition on 18th May 2026 at the Sarala Ray Auditorium, providing students of Legal Studies with an invaluable opportunity to experience the dynamics of courtroom advocacy.

The event simulated real court proceedings, where participants showcased their legal research, memorial drafting, analytical reasoning and oral advocacy skills before an esteemed panel of judges:

On the occasion of International Museum Day, students of Gokhale Memorial Girls' School had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Reserve Bank of India Museum and the State Bank Archives and Museum on 18 May 2026, following a kind invitation from the institutions.

The visit was an enriching journey through the history of money, banking, and India’s financial heritage. From rare coins, vintage currency-printing machines, and interactive financial literacy exhibits at the RBI Museum to priceless archival records and historic banking artifacts at the SBI Museum, the experience was both educational and engaging for our students.

The museums beautifully showcased how India’s financial system evolved over time and highlighted the importance of responsible banking, savings, and economic awareness. Interactive galleries, documentary films, and hands-on activities made learning both enjoyable and memorable.

We sincerely thank the organisers and museum authorities for their warm hospitality and for giving our students such an insightful learning experience on this special day.

🧠✨ Breaking the Silence for a Happier Tomorrow ✨🧠

The Special Education, Psychology and Wellness Department of Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School recently organized a Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Mental Health Awareness – Breaking the Silence, A Happier Tomorrow.”

The interactive session for students of Classes VIII and IX focused on the importance of emotional well-being, understanding feelings, managing stress, and removing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

Students participated enthusiastically, asking thoughtful questions and learning that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

The programme also included relaxation techniques through various yoga asanas, helping students discover simple and effective ways to calm the mind, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

Together, we continue to build a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, accepted, and empowered.

Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School had the privilege of hosting the Late Prof. Nabendu Sen & Late Mrs. Chitra Sen Memorial Lecture on the theme “Climate of India and Recent Changes.”

The memorial lecture was delivered by Prof. Kamalini Dasgupta, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College. Her insightful and thought-provoking presentation encouraged students to reflect deeply on the changing climatic patterns across India and their far-reaching environmental and social implications.

Students from Abhinav Bharati High School and Indus Valley World School also participated in the programme, making the event a vibrant platform for shared learning and meaningful dialogue on one of the most pressing issues of our time.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Chandrima Sen, daughter of Late Prof. Nabendu Sen and Late Mrs. Chitra Sen. A distinguished academic from the Department of Geography and an alumna of Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School, her presence added special significance to the occasion.

Prof. Dasgupta highlighted the diverse climatic conditions of India and discussed the recent changes being witnessed, including rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, and extreme weather events. She emphasized the importance of understanding these changes and adopting sustainable practices to protect our environment.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Principal of Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School, Mrs. Debjani Sarker, who expressed her gratitude to the speaker and all participating institutions for making the event a memorable and enriching experience.

*Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School Observes World Thalassemia Day with Zeal*

To mark World Thalassemia Day, the students of Class VIII at Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School organized a deeply impactful and educational program today. With a shared vision of a healthier society, these young students took it upon themselves to spread awareness about this genetic blood disorder through a series of thoughtful activities.

*Creative Awareness and Education*
The students demonstrated great care and diligence in preparing their presentations. The event featured:

*PPT Presentations* : Using modern technology, the girls delivered insightful PowerPoint presentations. They covered the causes, symptoms, and the critical importance of pre-marital screening and blood donation.

*Chart Making:* The classrooms were adorned with colorful and informative charts. These visual aids simplified complex medical information, making it accessible and easy for everyone to understand.

*A Pledge for Change*
A significant highlight of the day was the oath-taking ceremony. The students solemnly pledged to act as ambassadors for Thalassemia awareness. By taking this oath, they committed to educating their families and the wider community about the importance of early detection and supporting those living with the condition.
The Message to Society
Through their collective efforts, the Class VIII students sent a powerful

We are immensely proud to announce the stellar performance of our student at 'Kridotsav-Badminton', the inter-school tournament organised by Mahadevi Birla World Academy.

Competing on May 6, & 8, Ahankara Nayak of Class VI A showed remarkable focus and mental fortitude across three gruelling matches. Her incredible synergy and skill earned her the 2nd Position in the Class VI Girls' Category.
