Subject: Important Update Regarding Transactions, Membership Fees, and Digitalization Process
Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.
This is to inform you that for the financial year 2024-2025, no transactions could be carried out through the JAIR bank account. Additionally, we were unable to conduct any programs due to the upgradation of our existing system and the ongoing digitalization process in compliance with government regulations.
As we continue with the digitalization process, we need to clear pending payments, including the service provider managing this transition and the necessary payments related to Income Tax filing. After thorough discussions with our Executive Members, it has been decided that until the bank account becomes operational and the digitalization process is complete, the required amounts will be collected directly by the General Secretary through UPI modes which will be adjusted later with the JAIR Accounts.
You are kindly requested to pay the membership fee for the year 2024-2025 via GPAY, PhonePe, or any other UPI mode to the following number: 9874490250.
Please note that the membership fee for the next financial year will be collected once the JAIR bank account is fully operative.
We are pleased to share that we have already received the digitalized certificate. However, the digitalization of other official documents is still pending with the Registrar of Societies' office, and we are actively following up to expedite the process.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this transition period.
With best regards,
Prof. Imankalyan Lahiri
General Secretary, JAIR

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
on
The Developing World and the COVID-19 Pandemic: Issues, Challenges and Policy Responses
21-23 August, 2021
Call for Papers
The conference invites papers from research scholars, doctoral scholars, faculty members and independent researchers from across the world. The conference aims to discuss the multi-dimensional impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the developing world.
CONCEPT NOTE
If the early wave of the coronavirus pandemic depicted for the first time in the post-war history of epidemics that world’s wealthiest countries were heavily affected by the virus, the later stages showed that the developing states accounted for half of the global mortality. The parameters of social security and economics in the developing world has been a constant worry – the pandemic creating a global economic downturn has led to a disproportionate impact on low-income and emerging economies. In words of the World Bank President David Malpass, the global recession could also set back decades of progress in developing countries. This would, undoubtedly, hamper the graph of growth and sustainability that could have otherwise given these developing economies a much comfortable position. In all probabilities, the impact of the pandemic on the developing world would be visible in matters of vaccine procurement and vaccination infrastructure.
With economic recession, unemployment and health concerns, it needs to be understood how policymakers are responding to this crisis? How should saving lives and livelihoods be prioritized? What mechanism is being incorporated to vaccinate more and more people in order to bring stability to their economy? To find answers to these queries and many more, this conference intends to better comprehend the impact of the crisis and also between low income countries and middle income emerging markets given that these country groups are facing increasingly similar challenges.
The sub-themes for the conference are as follows:
1. Latin America and COVID-19
2. Sub-Saharan Africa and COVID-19
3. South Asian states and COVID-19
4. Impact on East Asian states
5. Impact of the crisis on marginalized communities of the developing world
6. Sustainability and the pandemic
7. Regional governance and leadership
8. Role of multilateral institutions
9. Multilateral institutions and overall recovery of developing states
10. Impact on women
11. Impact on human security
12. COVID-19 and regional cooperation
13. COVID-19 challenges and road ahead
