π A Visionary Visit: Shri Chanchal Kumar at SRFTI!
π« The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Deemed to be University) jubilant to share that the Hon'ble Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Shri Chanchal Kumar visited SRFTI on 20th June '26!
β¨ During his visit, Shri Chanchal Kumar had a detailed discussion with our VC, Registrar, Professors, and other officials about our future work plans and initiatives.
π Listening to students' concerns firsthand, Shri Kumar directed immediate action on key issues to facilitate their resolution.
π¬ The visit also included a campus tour and screening of student films.
π This visit is a testament to our commitment to excellence in cinematic education! We're grateful for his guidance and excited to have had a productive discussion with him about our future initiatives.

π The Screenwriting Department at Film and Television Institute of India Itanagar conducted an Additional Academic Input workshop, βDeveloping an Idea of a Short Film to Script,β from 2nd to 8th June 2026, led by filmmaker Umesh Kulkarni.
β¨ The workshop focused on the process of developing a short film idea into a screenplay, covering story development, structure, and scriptwriting practices. Students engaged with the core aspects of screenwriting through discussions, writing exercises, and feedback sessions.
π« We thank Umesh Kulkarni for sharing his insights and experience with our students throughout the workshop.

π« Building Bridges Between Creativity, Culture, and Management
Cinematic education and management excellence converge in this programme.
Professor Sudipta Bhowmick from SRFTI was recently invited to the orientation programme of IIM Calcutta's new batch, sharing fascinating insights into the culture of Bengal and the rich history of Kolkata.
During the session, he introduced students to the cultural heritage of Bengal and the historical evolution of Kolkata, highlighting the importance of contextual and cultural understanding in leadership and communication.
β¨ This initiative reflects how premier institutions can collaborate to create holistic educational experiences that extend beyond disciplinary boundaries. The heritage of culture through cinematic education and management excellence converges in this lecture.

π Nikhilesh Mishra, a student of the 'Direction & Screenplay Writing' department at SRFTI, was selected as a member of India's official delegation to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival under the 'WAVES Bazaar Global Outreach Programme', an initiative of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.
β¨ Beyond representing India on this prestigious global stage, Nikhilesh joined creators, industry leaders, and filmmakers from around the world to explore collaboration and co-production opportunities across the globe.
π« Nikhileshβs acclaimed short films have already been screened at various domestic and international film festivals. His recent work, 'Nabina Sundara Ghanashyama He', serves as a tribute to 'Daskathia'βan endangered traditional storytelling art form from Odisha.
