STAREBS Organises Workshop on Internship and Corporate Career Opportunities
The School for Training and Analytical Research in Economics, Business and Society (STAREBS) organised an informative one day workshop at Deshbandhu College for Girls on 13 th August 2026.
The programme was graced by Principal Dr. Anita Chattopadhyay Gupta and distinguished academicians including JDPI Prof. Asish Ghosh, IC, C.u. Dr. Diptendu Chatterjee, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Roy, Former Principal., Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Sugata Marjit, and Prof. Koushik Gupta, Department of Economis, CU.
A special session titled “Internship: A Road Map from College Campus to Corporate Career” provided valuable guidance to students on internships, career opportunities, and the transition from academic life to the professional world.
The enthusiastic participation of the students made the programme an enriching and successful experience.

Seminar on Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee

Yesterday, in accordance with the directive of the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, Deshbandhu College for Girls organized a seminar in observance of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Smriti Paksha.

The keynote speakers were Prof. Debbani Raychaudhuri, Former Associate Professor of Political Science, and Prof. Sarmishtha Bandyopadhyay, Former Associate Professor of History. Through their insightful and thought-provoking lectures, they highlighted the life, vision, contributions, and enduring legacy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, with special emphasis on his role in shaping independent India's geopolitical outlook.

The programme was successfully conducted under the leadership of the Teacher-in-Charge, Prof. Srimati Majumdar, and organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Faculty members, staff, and students participated enthusiastically, which made the seminar a meaningful academic event.

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের নির্দেশক্রমে দেশবন্ধু কলেজ ফর গার্লস এর উদ্যোগে আজ কলেজ সভাকক্ষে পালিত হল " "পশ্চিমবঙ্গ দিবস।" এই বিষয়ে প্রধান বক্তব্য রাখেন রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞানের অধ্যাপক শ্রী গৌতম কুমার নাড়ু। ভূগোল বিভাগের অধ্যাপিকা ড. পূর্ণিমা মল্লিক এবং গ্রন্থাগারিক প্রেমচাঁদ মণ্ডল ও এই বিষয়ে বক্তব্য রাখেন। অনুষ্ঠানটি ভারপ্রাপ্ত অধ্যাপিকা শ্রীমতী মজুমদারের তত্ত্বাবধানে সুচারুরূপে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। ছাত্রছাত্রী ও শিক্ষক শিক্ষিকা এবং অফিস কর্মচারী দের উপস্থিতিতে অনুষ্ঠানটি সার্থক হয়ে ওঠে।

19.03.2026 marked the inauguration of IPR cell at Deshbandhu College for Girls !
We were privileged enough to listed to distinguished resource persons from the Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology, Govt of West Bengal . From India’s first GI tagged , Darjeeling tea to Banglar Rasogolla to Trade Secrets of Coca Cola was discussed in the lecture today.
Also the speakers who encouraged our students to come up with innovative ideas and try for entrepreneurial activities and to apply for the Intellectual Property Rights were indeed mentors and guides for our students . We hope to have such more programs in days to come .

Deshbandhu college for girls observed students week from 2.01.2026 to 09.01.2026 as directed by the Department of Higher Education. The inauguration programme on 2nd January 2026 was followed by career counseling programme on 3rd January, cultural program on 4th, extempore and poster competition on 5th, psychological counseling on 6th, aids awareness programme on 7th, quiz competition on 8th and finally tree plantation programme on the last day of the week I.e. on 9th. Students participated enthusiastically and they enjoyed a lot.
