Dear friends,
Our friend Abhik is now out of danger. He has recovered from COVID infection thanks to the brilliant treatment by the doctors and help of the associated staff at Calcutta Heart Clinic & Hospital. However, due to the severity of the illness he has suffered, it may take about 3-6 months to fully recover and return back to his normal daily routine. He is expected to be released within another 2-3 days of necessary observation period. We acknowledge all the people who are supporting Abhik by various means towards his recovery.
Although, many of students are already aware of the nature of treatment received by Abhik from the hospital, we give a brief account of the same.
On the last Tuesday, Abhik was sent to get admitted in the hospital in an emergency condition. Unfortunately, there was no bed in the hospital upon his arrival there. However, measuring the necessity of immediate admission, the doctors (whom we informed earlier that Abhik is being sent to the hospital) put all their efforts to arrange a special bed for him. He was necessarily given an aggressive treatment (along with oxygen and BIPAP support and specialised medicines) from the beginning within the ICU and as his condition was stabilized, owing to such treatment, he was swiftly put in the general ward.
As you have been informed by the mail from us, the bill of the first 2 days was around Rs. 84000, which reflected an expenditure due to the treatment required at the initial level. Measuring the severity of Abhik's condition according to the doctors' initial report and uncertainty on the number of days of hospital stay, we anticipated an upper limit of 3 lakh. However, we find that due to the quick and smooth recovery of Abhik from his initial critical phase, again thanks to the constant effort by doctors, nurses and all the associated staffs, the expenditure has been greatly reduced comparing to the initial phase (attached here is the bill on 19.05.2021, which reads an amount of Rs. 1,80,000).
On a special note, let us inform you that we had been assured by one of the doctors that we need not pay the bill until we have enough money in our hand.
Having said all of these, we now want to make you aware of a couple of ugly posts.

Thank you.

Dear All,
You are well-aware of the MASSIVE DEVASTATION CAUSED BY AMPHAN, an extremely severe cyclonic storm, in southern parts of our state, the West Bengal, that too in the midst of the Covid19 crisis. Needless to mention the unimaginable misery the victims of the disaster going through right now. Enormous number of people have become homeless overnight, regular life being halted due to the
absolute scarcity of bare minimum resources.
Realizing the severity and demand of the situation, WE, THE STUDENTS OF S. N. BOSE NATIONAL CENTRE FOR BASIC SCIENCES, ARE TAKING THIS INITIATIVE FOR RAISING A FUND TO SUPPORT THE VICTIMS OF AMPHAN.
As we are unable to reach out to the victims directly, we have planned to hand-over the collected fund to one or more reliable organizations, those have already started or preparing to start their relief and medical-support activities in the affected areas. Initially, we plan to distribute the total collected fund into two organizations, MEDICAL SERVICE CENTRE (MSC) and SHRAMAJIBI SWASTHYA
UDYOG. Both have vast experiences of directly working in the areas affected by natural disasters. The core members of both the organizations are well-familiar to some of our social wing members. Further, we may also support other organizations depending on the magnitude of the collection. Later, we shall
also circulate the receipt of bulk transaction of the collected fund to the accounts of those organizations.
In addition to this, we also plan to support the victims in the nearby slum areas, as per requirement of the people belonging there, as much as possible for us from within our Centre.
KINDLY SEND YOUR CONTRIBUTION ONLINE THROUGH ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING

Dear Friends,
First of all, we are thankful to all of you for your huge support in providing food to the needy people. Initially, we aimed to support homeless people who stay in footpath of saltlake and family members of our school students (running by SNB Social Wing). As we collected more amount, our wing members helped in remote areas of Nandigram (Purba Medinipur), Begampur (Hoogly) including slum areas of Saltlake (Kolktata) with the support of local people and other organizations.
Till now, we have distributed commodities worth ₹ 1 lakh among 380 families. Now, we have started again to collect the donation due to lack of funding. If you want, kindly help us and share this message.
In the following poster, you will get the account details where you can donate money.
Best regards,
SNB Social Wing
