Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (DSIPST) successfully organized its Orientation & Fresher’s Welcome Programme, “SUSWAGATAM 2026” on March 25, 2026. The programme was specially conducted to warmly welcome the newly admitted 1st Year D. Pharm students and to introduce them to the academic environment, culture, and values of the institution. The program aimed to help students feel comfortable and confident as they begin their new academic journey.

The event commenced with a cordial welcome extended to the freshers, marking the beginning of their journey in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of distinguished guests, Dr. Abhijit Sengupta, Director of Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (JIS), and Dr. Lopamudra Dutta, Principal of Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (JIS). The program was inaugurated with lamp lighting by the distinguished guests and by the Honourable Principal of DSIPST, Dr. Sumana Chatterjee and other respected faculty members and an opening group song.

The program began with a welcome speech by the Principal, who greeted the students and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities provided by the institution. The principal highlighted the importance of discipline, dedication, and hard work in achieving success. The orientation session aimed to guide the students regarding their academic curriculum, professional ethics, and future opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector. The dignitaries addressed the students and provided valuable insights into the future scope and prospects of the pharmacy profession, motivating them to explore diverse career opportunities such as research, industry, clinical practice, and entrepreneurship. Their inspiring words encouraged the students to remain dedicated, disciplined, and focused on achieving excellence.
After the formal welcome a series of cultural performances presented by senior students, including dance, music, and instrumental programme added vibrancy and enthusiasm to the event.
The 1st year students were also encouraged to participate in interactive activities such as Quiz Competition and Musical Chair, which helped in breaking the ice and fostering camaraderie among the newcomers.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members, making it a memorable experience for everyone present.
The seamless coordination and dedicated efforts of the organizing team contributed significantly to the success of the event.

In conclusion, SUSWAGATAM 2026 was a grand success, achieving its objective of warmly welcoming the freshers and integrating them into the DSIPST family. The event reflected the spirit of unity, enthusiasm, and academic excellence upheld by the institution.
