On the 27th of November, 2022, the Techno India SPIE Student Chapter organized a virtual alumni meet, over Google Meet, which created a platform for the present student members of the chapter to interact with the past members. Some of them are currently pursuing their Higher Education in some of the most prestigious institutes in the world and some of them are working at various Multinational Corporations (MNCs). The session was inaugurated by the Director of Techno India Salt Lake, Dr. Avijit Kar, who shared his thoughts with us about the SPIE Student Chapter of Techno India. Following this, the audience was addressed by our Chapter Advisor, Dr. Saikat Majumder. He shared his experiences with the past student members and also gave us insights on how we, the present student members shall plan the activities for the upcoming year and take the student chapter to new heights.

We had one talk scheduled for that day which was delivered by one of the Founding members of our student chapter, Aishik Biswas. Aishik Biswas is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Montana State University under the guidance of Professor Ioannis Roudas. His talk was based on “The Role of Photonics in Communication Technology”. He gave us a brief overview of how the digital communication systems work, the optical fibre technology, the concept of Multiplexing, the Stokes Vector Modulation & the Mode Vector Modulation.

His talk was followed by some questions from the audience. Next, we proceeded toward the interactive session between the alumni and the present students. We were also able to connect to the alumni who are now in USA and Germany, pursuing higher education. They shared their experiences and told us about the benefits that they had gotten from the chapter. The alumni motivated the present students to explore their fields of interest. They even explained to the students how higher education is very important in today’s date.

On the joyous occasion of our student chapter completing 8 years since its commencement, Techno India SPIE Student Chapter has organised a virtual alumni meet on the 27th of November, 2022. Our very own past members would be joining us and share their experiences and words of wisdom with us.

The last 2 years of lockdown have acted as a glass slab bending our light wave through it.
But we are back again in air.☺️

It will be an exciting journey ahead as we are to execute something new with the support of our old & new members.

We are extremely glad to say that we conducted an offline event on Sep 23, after a long break due to the pandemic. It was an outreach activity conducted at Paharhati Golapmoni High School, Paharhati, Purba Bardhaman, Pin-713146,
West Bengal, India.

The students took immense pleasure😃 in knowing some very interesting phenomena inAstrophysics, Optics and Photonics. Moreover, the demonstration of some models showing applications of Optics and Photonics & the Quiz made it amazingly exciting for the students till the last minute. The spark in their eyes that this hands-on experience brought made us sure that this activity was a successful one.

For this success, we would like to express our gratitude towards Dr Saikat Majumder (Chapter Advisor), Sir Sk. Amir Ali(The Headmaster, Paharhati Golapmoni High School) & the concerned teachers in the School and definitely the students who participated actively in it.

On the eve of the Techno India SPIE Student Chapter completing seven magnificent years, we have decided to arrange a Virtual Alumni Meet where you get to know the Student Chapter better and get the chance to look back at the past memories. So what's the wait for? Let's walk down the memory lane to adore the bygone days!
