We are delighted to invite you all to a special lecture by Sweta Agarwal, Director of Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal, on the topic “How to Prepare for Civil Services Examinations.” Drawing from her distinguished career in the Indian Administrative Service, she will share valuable insights and practical guidance for students aspiring to join civil services and public policy institutions. The lecture will be held on 7 April 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Seminar Hall, Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University. All are warmly welcome to attend.

JAIR and SIRSS, Jadavpur University successfully organized a special lecture titled “Seeing India’s Urban Change through AI: Census Data, Migration and Night-Time Cities” delivered by Dr. Chiranjoy Chattopadhyay, Associate Professor and Chair, School of Computing and Data Sciences, FLAME University.

The lecture explored how artificial intelligence, census data, and night-time satellite imagery can help understand internal migration, social segregation, and hidden dimensions of urban life in India, opening new pathways for research, policy thinking, and urban planning. An engaging session with insightful discussions and thoughtful questions from students and researchers.

You are cordially invited to attend a special lecture titled “Seeing India’s Urban Change through AI: Census Data, Migration and Night-Time Cities” by Dr. Chiranjoy Chattopadhyay, Associate Professor and Chair, School of Computing and Data Sciences, FLAME University. The lecture will discuss how artificial intelligence, combined with census data and night-time satellite images, can help understand internal migration, social segregation, and overlooked dimensions of urban life in India, and how such analysis can inform fairer policies, better urban planning, and deeper debates on development, migration, and rights.

The lecture will be held on 25 February 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This special lecture is jointly organized by JAIR and SIRSS, Jadavpur University. Students, researchers, faculty members, and all interested participants are warmly invited to attend.
