Class 1B Special Assembly: Community Helpers
On Friday, 29.11.24, Class 1B held a special assembly in the Prayer Hall on the theme of Community Helpers. The event highlighted the important roles these individuals play in society and emphasized the values of service, kindness, and honesty.
The assembly began with a lively song celebrating these qualities. Students then performed a skit where a young boy met various community helpers—a doctor, firefighter, police officer, and janitor—who explained their contributions to keeping the community safe, healthy, and organized.
The assembly concluded with a vibrant dance performance expressing gratitude to community helpers. Overall, the event fostered respect and appreciation for these essential workers, encouraging students to value civic responsibility and contribute positively to their communities in the future.

Exploring History at Fort William
On Monday, 25th November 2024, the students of class V of Birla High School, accompanied by their teachers, embarked on an unforgettable educational field trip to Fort William. Guided by knowledgeable army officers, the students explored the historic War Memorial, the Command Library, and the Command Museum, immersing themselves in the rich history and legacy of the nation.
The field trip not only deepened their understanding of India’s military and colonial past but also inspired a profound respect for the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes. It was a day well spent, blending education with awe-inspiring experiences.

LKG & UKG Concert: "From Miles to Smiles"
The journey of Arjun, from moving to Kolkata to making new friends and exploring his new city, was brought to life in our heartwarming Kindergarten concert. The children's lively dances, songs, and performances perfectly captured the excitement of fresh beginnings, the magic of friendship, and the joy of discovering a new home.
Through Arjun's story, we experienced how the warmth and diversity of Birla High School made him feel welcomed and comfortable in his new surroundings. The event was a beautiful celebration of childhood innocence, creativity, and the power of unity.

Students of Class II Explore the Indian Museum
To enhance learning experiences and connect textbook concepts to real-life exhibits, class II students embarked on an exciting field trip to the Indian Museum on 20 November 2024. They visited the Zoological Gallery, Egypt Gallery, Bengal Painting Gallery, and Textile Gallery.
In the Textile Gallery, students marveled at the diverse displays of traditional Indian clothing. They observed various fabrics, patterns, and designs related to their EVS chapter on clothing.
It enhanced their understanding of different kinds of fabrics (cotton, silk, wool). They appreciated the regional variation in clothing and recognized the significance of traditional clothing in Indian culture.
The galleries, fascinated students as they were able to correlate the facts they learnt about various frog species and other amphibians. This experience reinforced their Literature chapter on frogs.
In the Zoological Gallery, students discovered an impressive collection of taxidermied animals, including mammals, birds, and reptiles. They learnt about the extinct animals. This sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for wildlife conservation among them.
Children viewed and enjoyed a show titled “Walking through a Songline”, an immersive digital experience produced by the National Museum of Australia.
Students demonstrated active engagement and curiosity throughout the trip. The trip fostered teamwork, observation, and critical thinking skills.
The field trip proved to be an enriching experience for the students. By connecting textbook concepts to real-life exhibits, students deepened their understanding and developed essential skills.

Birla High School lights up Children’s Day with joy & togetherness…
On 14th November 2024, Children’s Day was celebrated at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium of Birla High School with great enthusiasm and joy, creating an unforgettable experience for students from the Lower Nursery to Class 12.
For the youngest learners, the day began in their classrooms and playgrounds, where colourful balloons and streamers created a cheerful setting. Dressed in bright outfits, the children enjoyed activities like tricycle rides, ball games, and singing and dancing to lively tunes.
The Upper Nursery to Upper Kindergarten students were greeted by warmly decorated corridors and green boards, heightening their excitement. After a heartfelt address by the Headmistress, Mrs. Farida Singh, the teachers performed an energetic dance for the little ones. The children clapped and cheered before joining their teachers on the dance floor, fostering a sense of togetherness. The fun continued in classrooms with games, songs, and laughter, and each child received a goodie bag filled with treats.
After the junior section, the celebration continued for the students of classes 6-12. The programme commenced with the Saraswati Vandana which was followed by the Principal's address to the pupils. To strike the right note of celebration, the teachers went on to present a symphonic rendition through orchestral, group, as well as solo musical performances. The IT teachers had prepared a PowerPoint presentation for the students which they enjoyed a lot. The programme ended with a drama, titled 'Grooving with the Ghosts', which also contained a fashion show and dance performances by the teachers. Principal, Mrs Loveleen Saigal, played a cameo in the drama which got the students elated with joy.
From playful activities to heartfelt performances, Birla High School’s Children’s Day celebrations were a resounding success, bringing together joy, creativity, and a celebration of values that will inspire students for years to come.

On the auspicious occasion of Gurunanak Jayanti, students of Class IV A came together for a vibrant and meaningful assembly to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The event, which took place on 13th November, was a beautiful blend of culture, spirituality and unity, reflecting the timeless teachings of Guru Nanak that continue to inspire millions around the world.
The Guru Nanak Jayanti assembly at Birla High School was a moving celebration that highlighted Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings on dignity, equality, and compassion. Opening with speeches on his vision of a world beyond caste, creed, and religion, the assembly promoted values of inclusivity essential for today’s world. Students emphasized the significance of Langar — a community kitchen that serves free meals to all — and shared insights on Sikh principles such as Naam Japna (Chanting God’s Name), Kirat Karni (Earning an Honest Living), and Vand Chakna (Sharing with Others), inspiring all to integrate these values into daily life.
A highlight of the event was the explanation of the "Mool Mantar," displayed on placards, setting a reflective tone. Students performed a skit on Guru Nanak’s teachings on humility, sharing, and selfless service, and the assembly closed with a soulful Shabad Kirtan that left the audience spiritually fulfilled.
Headmistress Mrs. Farida Singh praised the students’ efforts and encouraged all to continue embodying love, respect, and equality. This celebration reinforced Birla High School’s commitment to fostering respect, kindness, and community, ensuring Guru Nanak’s teachings continue to inspire future generations.

On Monday, 11th November 2024, our Class 1 students enjoyed an exciting and educational field trip to the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum! The day began with a buzz of anticipation as the children set off on their journey, arriving just in time to explore the Transport and Machine Galleries. There, they discovered amazing displays of how things around us move and work. The excitement continued with three short films on protecting our planet and the importance of sustainability, which inspired the students to help keep our Earth clean.
A highlight of the trip was a live science show where students learned about the fascinating properties of air. Through captivating experiments, they discovered that air occupies space, exerts pressure, and has weight. They watched a balloon shrink and expand with liquid nitrogen and were thrilled by clouds of nitrogen "smoke." Shouts of "Science is fun!" filled the air as they marvelled at each demonstration.
Back at school, students participated in a quiz and, crafted their aeroplanes to explore how air moves things. The field trip was a fantastic hands-on experience, sparking curiosity and inspiring environmental care in our young learners!
