Asha Bhosle

(1933-2026)

The legendary maestro of Indian playback singing Asha Bhosle left us today, the 12th of April at the age of 92 towards the other parts of the world.

Amazing, Awestruck Scintillating, Spectacular - no adjectives are enough for her incredible genius.

With an unputdownable voice she enthralled Indian and world music for more than seven decades. At the age of 10 she did her first music recording. And, since, the journey of magical melody mesmerized billions over the last seven decades. The nation has lost one of the greatest voices. The loss is irreparable.

Her sibling, the other greatest Late Lata Mangeshkar was called as the Nightingale of India then Asha Bhosle is also a Koel of Indian music.

Two of our students Akansha Gupta and Shreyasi Das (B.Sc Media Science, 2nd year) have successfully completed their one month internship in the most prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India.

First time in the Media Science department the students directly worked under the Information & Broadcasting Ministry's most advanced studio.

They worked under the News and Current Affairs module of the Electronic and Digital Media Management, SRFTI.

They were responsible for:

Presenting Weather Report

News Reporting

News Anchoring for Live TV segments

Telephonic Reporting

Floor Management during Live broadcasts.
