For the first time, the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University, organized an eye camp at Baruipur Central Jail on 14 December 2025 as part of its community outreach initiative. The camp aimed to extend essential eye care services to the inmate population and to raise awareness about the importance of ocular health. Basic vision screening and refractions were carried out to detect refractive errors, presbyopia and other visual problems. This inaugural initiative was well received by the jail authorities and inmates, marking a significant step in Brainware University’s commitment to inclusive healthcare and social responsibility.

From Bench to Diagnosis
Brainware University, in collaboration with Bio-Rad, successfully hosted a hands-on training on Thalassemia Screening via HPLC.
The sessions, led by experts Dr. Soumen Tanti and Mr. Pranoy Dey, offered participants an immersive experience in Thalassemia testing, HPLC methodologies, and practical diagnostic techniques. Students had the opportunity to translate classroom learning into real-world applications, sharpening their skills and gaining confidence in laboratory practices. Over two days of exploration, experimentation, and expert guidance, the event highlighted the perfect blend of knowledge, practice, and innovation — reinforcing Brainware University’s commitment to hands-on learning and healthcare excellence.

“A Step Towards a Healthier Tomorrow – Free Health Screening for All.”
The Department of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Brainware University has successfully conducted a Free Health Checkup Camp at Tapan Sengupta Smriti Bhavan, Ramkrishna Road, Hijalpukuria, Battala, Habra on Tuesday, 26th August 2025. More than 40 participants were benefitted by getting free services on eye-checkup, blood pressure measurement, checkup of cardiopulmonary health along with pathological tests like blood grouping and blood glucose level monitoring.

Learning, Growing, Excelling – Together at the Workshop!
“Empowering Radiographers: Workshop on Optimizing Exposure & Quality Assurance in Conventional and Digital X-Ray Systems – Enhancing Image Quality, Ensuring Safety.”
The workshop was organized on 13th August 2025 that focused on the fundamental and advanced aspects of radiographic practice, emphasizing the balance between image quality and radiation safety.
The session, taken by our distinguished guest, Mr. Sourav Sarkar, highlighted key principles of exposure optimization, radiation protection, and systematic quality assurance protocols essential for both conventional and digital radiography.
This training aimed to enhance participants’ practical knowledge and skills in producing accurate diagnostic images while ensuring patient and operator safety.
