Farewell Programme of Class 12's.

Date: 6th March 2023
Venue: Silver Point School
Time: 2:15 PM onwards

Objectives :
To bid adieu to the outgoing class 12 batch and celebrate their experiences as a part of the Silver Point family.
To remember and cherish all the fond memories the students have made with their teachers, classmates and juniors.
To mark the bittersweet occasion of our class 12 seniors and beginning a new journey in their lives as their school life comes to an end.

It is said that every good thing comes to an end, and for the students of class 12 batch of 2022-23, 6th March marked the day their school life drew to a close. It was the time for our seniors to step beyond the boundaries of school, moving forward, into the world of opportunities and adulthood. However, it was also time to leave behind their second home, where most of them have spent more than a decade.

To make this bittersweet day a little better, class 11 students and some other juniors organized a programme dedicated to the outgoing students.

With a wonderfully recited Hindi poem the programme took off. In keeping with the theme of the day "friendship", it was followed by a classical dance, solo and duet music performances, as well as a group dance. The audience were served refreshments as they enjoyed the show.

We moved on to the second segment of the programme, where games were arranged that the audience could themselves partake in. A raucous yet cheerful bout of passing the ball took place, participants playing sitting on the stage itself as they were applauded by the rest of us. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third places.

With our seniors in high spirits, we moved on the next item- a musical skit based on common experiences shared between friends in school, from playing pranks on teachers and on each other, to the tension of exams and results. The story took a dark turn, however, when one among the friend group met with an accident. The worry, the tears, the relief of knowing they were safe, and teasing them once they are back on their feet - each of us could relate to it. The skit ended with many eyes damp, and definitely stole the show.

One of the the most awaited events of the day followed- the awarding of the titles of Mr and Mrs Silver Point. The title of Mr Silver Point was shared between two students, and the three of them recieved a sash and a bouquet. This continued into the next event, where the 12 seniors were invited to the stage for a ramp walk. It led to a chaotic segment full of laughter and cheers. With large smiles we moved forward with our next item.

Teachers form a very integral part of our childhood, and often we do not realise the countless memories we make with them, learning not just our curriculum but so much more. As they guide us and shape us into adults, we too become a part of their journey.

The teachers of the class 12 batch of 2023 created a presentation where each of them spoke to their students, wishing them luck for their future. Many pictures and videos of this batch with their teachers, performing in various school activities were put together in a video that celebrated their journey as a part of Silver Point.

At the end of the presentation, mementos were gifted to all the class 12 students. The programme ended with cake-cutting and distribution of food packets. With tears and laughter, we bid goodbye to our seniors, wishing them luck for their Board exams.

Conclusion:
The class 12 batch of 2023 was one of the most active among all the classes, always ready to come forward and organize as well as participate in any and every activity. They have been amazing seniors to all the younger students. With this program we hope we have been able to convey our gratitude and appreciation for each and every one of them, giving them a farewell they will remember as they move forward in their journey of life.

The session aimed at:
a) To orient students to a vision/perspective towards their own mental and emotional health.
b) To introduce a simple and easy-to-adapt practice of meditation.

Description of the event:

The Silver Point School had organised an introductory session on meditation and mental health for parents. The programme has been designed by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, with inputs from scholars and practitioners of mental health from reputed institutions.

The initiative is titled "Har Ghar Dhyan" and is being conducted under the aegis of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The session begins with an ice breaker activity. This session offers foundational information on mental health, as well as opportunities to practise listening and supporting other students in an empathetic way.

Breathing was a simple stress management exercise done by the parents and they experienced the immediate benefits of a calm body and more relaxed mind.

Story telling method was another mode used to convey the message to the parents. Over all this one hour session will allow us to live life with more purpose, clarity, and passion.

The session helped the parents to understand the basic concept of mental health and well-being.

It guided them in strengthening their coping abilities to counter stress and encourage them to seek help, guidance and support. It can be aptly concluded by saying that these types of sessions are extremely progressive in nature. Silver Point School has been working to ensure a healthy mindset among parents.

Recycling of dry waste after waste segregation and handover to Vital Waste recycling company by Eco club.
Date : 16th of February, 2023
Venue : Silver Point School

Objectives:-
To conserve energy.
To reduce air, water pollution and greenhouse gases and conserve natural resources.
To reduce the volume of wastes sent to landfills.

About recycling and vital waste -
Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment.

Silver Point School always tries to create a clean environment as it is essential for Healthy Living.

Urban society generates municipal solid waste even faster than the rate of urbanization.

And while we admit, most people are concerned, they remain unaware of what steps need to be taken to ensure they recycle their waste. The world numbers are daunting, as are India numbers โ€“ we recycle a mere 27% of our waste. But amidst all this, there is good news.

Starting with Kolkata's very first waste management and recycling company - Vital Waste.

Description of the event:-
The students were inspired to collect the waste materials for a period of one month.
The students deposited the waste materials at school with a motive to recycle them.
Silver Point School handed over dry waste to Vital Waste recycling company. This initiative is taken by the Eco Club of Silver Point school.

Conclusion:-
Thus it can be concluded that recycling saves a lot of energy because many things that we recycle can easily be converted into virgin materials. In addition it saves a lot of resources too. Moreover, recycling reduces the burden of the environment. As we save energy the number of greenhouse gases and oxides are produced in less quantity.

The Science Workshop conducted by Edudigm started around 11 am with a short welcome speech by the Principal of BSS School in the school auditorium. She introduced Mr Rajiv Agarwal who is an IIT kharagpur Stansford University alumni.

The name of the workshop is โ€œ Edu โ€“ Morphosisโ€ which means a sudden change in the system of education. What is that? It is due to this digital age where students already have enough information as well as solution of their problems. So there is a โ€œ War for Attentionโ€.

The session with Mr Rajiv Agarwal was very enriching . The teachers had learnt a lot and shall be applying gradually into their classrooms. A teacher has to be good at endless directions in order to make his/ her classes effective.He/ She must be very good at story telling which children loves the most.
