The young learners of the Nursery celebrated Earth Day for the first time with much zeal and enthusiasm. It allowed our little ones to explore and learn about the Earth. Through the medium of a globe, their tactile memory of the shape of the Earth was created. With the help of a PPT, the concept that Earth is our home and doing our bit to keep it clean was imparted. Children were encouraged to speak about how they can keep the Earth, their home, a clean place. Learning by doing has the maximum impact on young learners thereby the colour of the Earth was introduced to them through a hands-on activity of making balloon impressions using blue and green paint. As the young ones pledged to become Eco-Warriors, they made a beautiful Earth with palm impressions as a combined Nursery activity in the corridor with the message ‘We love you, Mumma Earth’. Children were empowered today to become proactive climate warriors of tomorrow by sensitizing them to understand the collective responsibility we share to look after the Earth.

Scorching heat, no sign of a nor’wester, schools closing abruptly in the month of April... In recent years Kolkata has had several heat waves and if we don’t take action now it will become worse.
Thus, to raise awareness and make our children realise that they too can help in reversing this climate change and stop this global warming, we celebrated Earth Day at school , online, through various activities across the classes. Enjoy a few glimpses of the same.

Spring is Here … It’s time to Cheer
The young Kindergarteners ushered in the ‘king’ of all seasons Spring to set the mood in perfect harmony with Mother Nature by enthusiastically participating in a special assembly named the ‘Colours of Spring’. A colourful programme was organized by the young enthusiasts of Kindergarten where everyone witnessed the vibrancy of Spring, through an amalgamation of a variety of events such as role play, recitation and dance depicting the beauty of the season in its full action. The role play showcased how bears, squirrels, and ants wake up from their long sleep, trees get new green leaves, buds bloom into colourful flowers, busy bees buzz all day long in search of nectar and beautiful butterflies flap their colourful wings. The spectacular dance performance on the song “Oerey bhai fagun legeche boney boney” not only mesmerised the audience but also added a splash of colour to the programme and reminded everyone to welcome the annual Spring festival ‘Holi’ with full enthusiasm and gaiety. Last but not least, the Hindi recitation spread awareness amongst the audience to play safe and dry Holi with herbal colours, save water, be kind to animals, and take care of oneself during the season. Kudos to our little wonders of Kindergarten who worked tirelessly in putting up such an extravagant programme to be in tune with the season and with the most popular Spring festival celebrated all over India with lots of grandeur and glee.
