Oikos is set to host its first debate competition on 29th November, 3:00 pm at the department of economics. We are more than happy to announce that we have made our departmental activity open to the department of political science as well , keeping in mind the spirit of the event. We are gradually working towards hosting future events, which will include every department of this esteemed University. Registration starts from 11.11.2019 . We will announce the motion one day prior to the event at the department of economics . 2nd Nobel Laureate from the Presidency University Economics Department!!
Heartfelt congratulations from OIKOS to Prof. Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee for being one of the recipients of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences 2019.
The 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel has been awarded to Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kramer "for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty".
Prof Banerjee who was a student of the Economics Department, Presidency College, Kolkata is currently the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
