India – I Salesiani di Calcutta inaugurano le Celebrazioni del Centenario con l’arrivo del Rettor Maggiore

(ANS – Calcutta) – L’Ispettoria Salesiana di Calcutta è entrata nella fase finale e più significativa delle Celebrazioni del Centenario con l’arrivo dell’11° Successore di Don Bosco, il Rettor Maggiore della Congregazione Salesiana, don Fabio Attard, giunto a Kolkata nelle prime ore del 5 febbraio per dare inizio alla sua visita di animazione che durerà 13 giorni nella regione.

Don Attard è arrivato da Roma all’Aeroporto Internazionale Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, dove ha ricevuto una calorosa e festosa accoglienza da parte di un numeroso gruppo di Exallievi di Don Bosco e confratelli salesiani. Tra i presenti vi erano don Biju Michael, Consigliere Regionale per l’Asia Sud; don Sunil Kerketta, Vicario Ispettoriale di Calcutta; e don Jijo John, Economo Ispettoriale, insieme a membri della più ampia Famiglia Salesiana.

Dall’aeroporto, il Rettor Maggiore è stato accompagnato alla Casa Ispettoriale, scortato dall’entusiasmo e dalla gioia degli exallievi e dei salesiani. Nella mattina, don Attard ha presieduto la Celebrazione Eucaristica, vissuta con la comunità della Casa Ispettoriale in un clima di profonda gioia, fraternità e gratitudine per la missione salesiana.

Nel corso della giornata, il Rettor Maggiore ha incontrato i membri del Consiglio Ispettoriale, avviando un dialogo e una riflessione condivisa sulla vita, le sfide e la missione dei Salesiani nell’ Est India. Dopo un breve periodo di riposo, è poi partito per Siliguri, dove oggi e domani si svolge la prima fase delle celebrazioni del centenario, segnando una tappa storica nel cammino dell’Ispettoria.

Il centenario ricorda l’arrivo dei primi Salesiani a Calcutta l’11 novembre 1925, quando mons. Louis Mathias, insieme a don Paolo Bonardi, don Giuseppe Gil e il Sig. Pietro Aprile, diede inizio alla presenza salesiana assumendo la responsabilità della Catholic Orphan Press e della Parrocchia della Cattedrale già nella loro prima notte in città. Un inizio storico che ha posto le basi di una missione che, nel corso di cento anni, ha profondamente segnato il panorama spirituale, educativo e sociale della regione.

L’arrivo del Rettor Maggiore segna così non solo l’apertura delle celebrazioni conclusive del centenario, ma anche un rinnovato momento di animazione, incoraggiamento e comunione per i Salesiani di Calcutta e per l’intera Famiglia Salesiana in India.
