Skill India Drive Boosts BFSI Sector
With an aim to develop India’s unskilled and semi-skilled labour pool into a productive and skilled workforce, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), an executive arm of the
Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, has collaborated with Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited (DHFL).
As part of this collaboration, DHFL has offered to provide its state-of-art-centre in Mumbai for conducting skill development trainings in Banking and Financial Services especially for unprivileged youth in below-poverty-line category as part of the company’s nationwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. NSDC’s affiliated training partners will conduct trainings and lead the successful implementation of the project. This association aims to bridge the need of aspirants who are deprived of opportunities due to financial constraints and those who are unable to access ‘new economy’ jobs.

Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship hosted the National Entrepreneurship Awards 2017
Embarking on an ambitious mission to empower Indian youth with skill training and employability, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE)today hosted the National Entrepreneurship Awards 2017 marking the completion of three glorious years of its inception today. The awards were conferred in the august presence of Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Ambassador of Japan to India Shri Kenji Hiramatsu, Secretary MSDE Dr K.P Krishnan and Managing Director & CEO, ICICI Bank Ltd Ms Chanda Kochhar.
Congratulating all the entrepreneurs recognized by MSDE this year and highlighting the challenges of limited job creation capacity, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Shri Arun Jaitley said, “India has a much younger population versus other advance economies. This is a huge opportunity for us to scale up and skill our workforce and reap our demographic dividend and service economies. Conventionally our focus was on awarding degrees with always a debate on how we link them to jobs. Over a period of time we have realised that we need to skill our youth for these jobs.”

Skill India and World Bank organize a ‘Knowledge Sharing Workshop’ for African delegates
Taking strong partnership between India and Africa to new heights, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and World Bank are organizing a five day ‘Knowledge Sharing Workshop’ for African delegation from six African countries namely Rwanda, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Senegal, Tanzania, and Ghana. Capacity building and knowledge exchange support from India for African countries is the central theme of the workshop. The five day workshop is a culmination of a conference on Partnership for Skills in the Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET) organized in April this year in Nairobi, Kenya.
The African countries that participated in the PASET Forum requested for support and knowledge exchange for African countries with India in the area of skills development (SD) and vocational education. The workshop includes discussions with Indian counterparts at the national level and field visits to two states, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
The workshop is being attended by key ministers from India and Africa namely, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Hon’ble Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Deputy Minister of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET)/Secondary Education, Government of Ghana; Hon’ble Professor Mary Teuw Niane, Minister of Higher Education and Research, Republic of Senegal; Hon’ble Mr. Olivier Rwamukwaya, Minister of State, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Government of Rwanda; Hon’ble H.E. India to send a lakh youth to Japan for bilateral technical training programme
Cabinet approves gas exchange pact with Japan
In an effort to boost national productivity, the Union Cabinet announced on Wednesday that it would send a lakh youth to Japan as part of a bilateral technical training programme.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, said after a Cabinet meeting that Indian recruits will receive training in Japan for a period of three to five years. They will get accommodation and job opportunities in Japan.
