The Indus Valley Civilization (3300 BCE – 1300 BCE) was one of the earliest and most advanced civilizations in the world! Imagine living in a time where cities were as well-planned as today’s modern cities. The Indus Valley was located along the Indus River, in areas that are now part of Pakistan and India. Major cities like Harappa, Mohenjo-Daro, Dholavira, and Lothal were bustling with life and culture.
🏙️ City Wonders:
These ancient cities were built with straight streets, houses made of baked bricks, and advanced drainage systems. The people of the Indus Valley were like city planners and engineers, making sure everything was neat and tidy.
💰 Smart Traders and Farmers:
The people were great at trading and farming. They traded goods like cotton, beads, pottery, and jewelry with people in far-off places! They were also skilled farmers, growing wheat, barley, and peas, and had cattle, sheep, and goats for work and food.
✍️ A Mysterious Language:
The Indus Valley people used a special script on seals and pottery. But guess what? We still haven’t fully figured out what they were writing! Maybe one day, someone will decode their secret language.
🎨 Art and Culture:
They made beautiful pottery, jewelry, and even tiny toys like rolling carts! These toys show just how creative they were, even back then.
🌾 The Decline of the Civilization:
Around 1900 BCE, the civilization slowly started to disappear. The reasons are still a mystery. Some believe it was due to climate change, floods, or even invasions.
Fun Fact: The Indus Valley people were the first to grow cotton and make clothes from it!
