Prayasam’s 2019–20 Hotspot highlights a milestone year of global collaborations, leadership growth, and youth empowerment. Partnerships with YouSocial (Spain), the US Consulate, and Norec with SDI Kenya expanded cross-border exchanges, while key visits from US Minister Counsellor Joseph M. Pomper and West Bengal IAS Officer Debashis Sen endorsed its grassroots initiatives. The 6th Bad and Beautiful World Film Festival explored complex themes like LGBTQ rights, while IIM Calcutta collaborated with Prayasam to model its youth-driven enterprises into replicable social business strategies. Youth achievements shone through Adobe Creativity, Anything But Studies (ABS), and 32 Girls Voices scholarships, while Prasaad Community Kitchen expanded to the American Center, employing 20 youth. At the 23rd AGM, five young leaders were selected for the Director Special team.

CVNN CEO Manish attended the Sundance Film Festival to showcase his film Sakha and cover the event for his channel. Prasaad expanded its culinary footprint by opening a new branch at the American Center in Kolkata to serve staff and visitors. Ten students from the Salaam Bombay Foundation completed film-making training with Prayasam, co-directing a short film alongside Spanish interns. Inspired by this exchange, Spanish interns Alex and Alba launched 'YOU SOCIAL' to foster international youth exchange programs across Asia and Africa. Prayasam’s community kitchen, Prasaad, hosted its annual 'Hungry for Change' food festival, where American Center Deputy Director Jay Treloar shared authentic American recipes with youth and mothers. The 6th 'Protidin Prayasam Pranaam' celebrated local youth craftsmanship over 22 vibrant days. Founder Director Amlan Kusum Ganguly led an Ashoka Alliance delegation to Dhaka to train Bangladeshi youth in visual media advocacy. Prayasam expanded its operational reach by opening 'Adorini' and community-based 'Aniket' as dedicated residences for interns and volunteers. At the 22nd AGM, key leadership transitions took place, Prayasam Visual Basics reported strong business growth, and the 'Community Ambassadors' program was officially launched. Looking Back: 2018–19 at a Glance!

2018–19 was easily one of our busiest and most impactful years to date! When our editorial team sat down to plan the pagination for the Annual Activity Report, they were completely baffled—there were 30 major events, projects, and initiatives that deserved special recognition. Even our 2018 Annual General Meeting was a milestone. At the 22nd AGM, key leadership transitions took place.

To relive these unforgettable moments, we are kicking off a special campaign for our ONTRACK page! From August 18 to August 23, we will feature 5 key highlights every day from our 2018–19 Annual Activity Report. Then, starting August 24, we will dive straight into the 2019–20 report.

Prayasam’s youth changemakers continue to leverage creative media to drive social transformation and achieve global acclaim. Monalisa Mondal and Musarrat Banu received Adobe Creativity Scholarships to advocate for community issues and dance movement therapy, while Indrajit Mondal earned an Adobe Innovation Grant for his anti-abuse initiative, Clothes' Cry. Internationally, Prayasam collaborated with Say Si and Destiny Arts Centre on the dance installation RITU, and Salim Shekh presented his evocative portraiture exhibition, Engaging with Empowerment. Highlighted by Sikha Patra’s selection as an Ashoka Youth Venturer and films featured at MIFF, Prayasam empowers young leaders to inspire lasting change.

Prayasam’s commitment to youth empowerment shines globally through international collaborations, including FK Norway’s "Media for Mentors" exchange with SDI Kenya, SAY SI’s Texas-based Papalote project, and winning the prestigious Adobe Creative Catalyst Award. The organization continues to nurture leaders: four members won Adobe Creativity Scholarships, Sikha Patra launched the Allahdi Performing Arts Studio via an Adobe Innovation Grant, and youth repeatedly secure U.S. State Department CCIP scholarships. Driven by grassroots initiative, Prayasam expands local livelihoods through the DRS Sambhar recycling material bank and Prasaad community kitchen, transforming creative expression into sustainable social change.
