The Endangered Archives Programme, British Library and the School of Cultural Texts and Records, Jadavpur University, are calling on applications for a 3-day workshop from 13 to 15 March 2024 on Collections Care in Libraries and Archives led by conservation experts from the British Library.
We are particularly interested in applicants from independent and/or small archives and libraries, institutions/organisations with rare and vulnerable collections.
Places for the 3-day onsite workshop in Kolkata are limited so interested applicants are required to complete an application form by 26 January 2024: https://forms.gle/DVaMJoGTGm2wcny17

As part of our Audio Preservation Series the British Library’s Endangered Archives Programme (EAP) and the School of Cultural Texts and Records at Jadavpur University are calling for applications for a three-day workshop led by two specialists from the British Library Sound Archive.
This introductory workshop is suitable for audio or audiovisual professionals or students of all levels and experience, as well as anyone in the wider cultural heritage sector interested in gaining new skills and insights.
The workshop will be preceded by two webinars on 26 September and 3rd October at 18.00-20.00 Kolkata time that will provide an understanding of the history of recorded sound formats, the risks faced by sound collections and the ethics, principles and strategies of audio preservation. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend both of these webinars in order to gain the most from this in-person workshop.

The School of Cultural Texts and Records cordially invites you to attend our ‘Open Day at the Archives’ on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 between 12-2 PM and 3-5 PM.
On display will be rare cultural heritage objects, both digital and analogue, including handwritten manuscripts by eminent poets, directors and playwrights. There will also be a live demonstration of our digitisation process.
The School is home to a rich digital collection of not just rare textual material but also photographs and audio-visual materials as well. We also house the Archive of North Indian Classical Music which has about 7000 hours of recorded music.
