The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotic fervour at Suryodaya High School. The celebration began with the flag hoisting by our Chief Patron, Mrs. Sunita Kanoria Ma’am, filling the atmosphere with a deep sense of patriotism and pride. Our Principal, Mrs. Paulami Dey, delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to become responsible, confident and dedicated citizens of the country. The children presented some beautiful dance performances, adding colour and energy to the celebration. The patriotic spirit continued with melodious patriotic songs, followed by inspiring speeches by our Head Girl and Head Boy. The celebration was a memorable reminder of the values of freedom, unity, responsibility and love for our nation.

'Rath Yatra' is one of the most sacred and joyous festivals in India, celebrated with great devotion in honour of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra. The festival symbolizes faith, unity, humility, and the triumph of goodness. It reminds us that the blessings of the Almighty are for everyone.

The Montessori and Primary Wing students of Suryodaya High School celebrated Rath Yatra with great enthusiasm and devotion. Dressed in colourful traditional attire, the children participated in a joyful procession and pulled the beautifully decorated chariot of Lord Jagannath. The celebration helped the young learners to understand the rich cultural heritage and significance of this auspicious festival.

The theme for this year, "Yoga for Healthy Aging," highlights how regular yoga practice helps people stay physically active, mentally calm, and emotionally balanced throughout their lives. Yoga improves flexibility, concentration, and overall well-being, making it an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.

Suryodaya High School also celebrated World Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. Students actively participated in various yoga activities and demonstrated different yoga postures with dedication and interest. The celebration encouraged students to understand the value of yoga and adopt it as a daily habit. Through yoga, we can lead healthier, happier, and more disciplined lives.

Rabindra Jayanti was celebrated with great joy and devotion at Suryodaya High School. Students from Montessori to Class X participated enthusiastically in the programme. Beautiful dance performances, soulful Rabindra Sangeet, captivating dance dramas, and heartfelt recitations were the main attractions of the event. The teachers also mesmerized everyone with their wonderful performances.

Rabindra Jayanti celebration is an important part of our cultural heritage, as it honours the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore, whose writings continue to inspire generations. The celebration helped students understand and appreciate the richness of Bengali culture and the timeless values of literature, music, and art.

A special highlight of the day was the delicious food served by Mr. Anant Kanoria and Mrs. Anahita Kanoria. The students thoroughly relished the treats, making the occasion even more memorable. Their smiles and laughter reflected how much they enjoyed both the celebration and the delightful feast.

Indeed, it was a proud moment for Suryodaya High School as our young gems once again shone brightly, this time in the field of story writing. These budding writers were invited by the Inner Wheel Club of Hiland Park to attend the prestigious launch of the book Voices Unbound, where their creative works have been published. It was a remarkable achievement that filled the school with pride and joy, celebrating the talent and dedication of these students.

It is truly amazing how these young minds have beautifully expressed their thoughts, emotions, and imagination through their writing. Their achievement reflects not only their creativity but also the importance of nurturing a love for reading and writing from an early age. “Books are the foundation of learning, and through reading, young minds grow into great thinkers and creators.”
