Hypothesis Testing In this article, I am going to discuss in detail on most of the things that are associated with Hypothesis Testing, and I will do my best to help at
While learning and carrying out hypothesis tests we come across these few terms for sure, and I'm hoping anyone willing to take part in this discussion would know what each of these terms refer to. For those who don't, feel free to ask. I'll be more than happy to help. :)
1. Null Hypothesis
2. Alternative Hypothesis
3. Level of significance
4. Type I and Type II errors
5. Power of a test
6. Critical region
8. Z score
8. Critical value
9. P values
10. The conclusion that relates to either acceptance or rejection of Null Hypothesis.
Now i have an interesting question here. We know that if the value of the test statistic lie in the critical region we reject Null Hypothesis. So I would like to ask how do we decide upon the critical region?. A common answer that I would be expecting is setting the level of significance and depending upon the type of test that is being carried out (One-tailed or two-tailed) will set the critical values and hence make our life easier to conclude on our results. But I would like to imagine a situation where I would not know the level of significance (or not even be familiar with the term) and yet would like to decide upon whether to accept or reject the hypothesised value of the parameter. What would be my next best choice?.

It involves imparting knowledge about the risk and return of the prevailing financial products and to make them clearly understand that there is a world beyond “Fixed Deposits” and “Insurance”.
