PCOS is now PMOS

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) has been officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) following a global expert consensus published in The Lancet in May 2026.

Why the Name Changed??

Protein to DNA
IS NCERT going to change....

Scientists discovered that bacterial defense systems DRT3 and DRT7 can build DNA strands directly from protein templates, expanding our understanding of biological information flow.

How the DRT3 System Works

Two enzymes: The system uses two reverse transcriptase enzymes named Drt3a and Drt3b.

RNA strand: Drt3a uses a normal noncoding RNA molecule as a template to build a single strand of DNA.

Protein template: Drt3b builds the matching second strand without any RNA or DNA template
Active site: Specific amino acids inside the protein's active site act as a physical mold to guide the new DNA sequence. Detailed findings are published in Science.

How the DRT7 System Works

Single module: DRT7 combines a reverse transcriptase domain with a primase-polymerase domain

Arginine pocket: An arginine-rich pocket inside the enzyme reads the protein's own sequence to jumpstart template-independent DNA synthesis.

Strand handoff: The system builds a poly(T) strand first, and then the polymerase domain extends the complementary poly(A) strand to create a duplex DNA structure
