Department of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, The Neotia University organized a nine days study tour to Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and IARI from 28th June 2022 to 6th July 2022. It gave the students basic knowledge of potato cultivation practices and equipped them with the experience about various aspects so as to enhance one’s reach and impact in the agricultural society. Thirty one (31) students from B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) 4th year participated in the tour.

Weather and climate information plays a vital role in agriculture management and production. In order to cater the weather information needed for the farming community, India Meteorological Department (IMD) initiated Farmers Weather Bulletin in the year 1945. AAS provides a very special kind of inputs to the farmer as advisories that can make a tremendous difference to the agriculture production by taking the advantage of benevolent weather and minimizing the adverse impact of malevolent weather. It emerged that the prime need of the farmer is location specific weather forecast in quantitative terms. In this regard, SAAS, TNU has also started to issue weather information along with crop specific agro- advisory to its adjoining villages.

The Neotia University (TNU) is in the DST, Govt. of India’s Mission Innovation Program ‘Integrated Clean Energy Material Acceleration Platform (IC-MAP)’ (2021-22).
TNU is assigned to develop the Novel Catalysts and Design Reaction Engineering in converting the syngas & bio-oil from biomass gasification into H2. To develop this, DST has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 64.5 Lakhs to TNU for three years of duration. The Project at TNU will be executed under the guidance & supervision of Prof.(Dr.) Biswajit Ghosh - Hon'ble Vice Chancellor - TNU.

The School of Agriculture & Allied Sciences, TNU , The Neotia University organised A seminar on the prospects of Government Jobs, “Explore the Career Opportunities in Govt. Sector & Unlock the Potentials in You” from RICE Education

The seminar started at 11:50 am. The Dean – SAAS welcomed all the participants present in the seminar. The following points were discussed in the seminar:

1. An Educator from RICE Education gave lecture on the career opportunity after the graduation of B.Sc. Agriculture.
2. Following points were discussed in the seminar.
a. Available career opportunity after the graduation in B.Sc. Agriculture.
b. Focused on available Govt. jobs after the graduation.
c. RICE Educator gave an insight on West Bengal Civil Service and allied examinations of WBPSC, exams of WBSSC, CHSL of SSC (Central), UPSC exam, IBPS exam – PO, AFO, and Clerical etc.
d. Govt. exam preparation methodology and strategy was also discussed in the seminar,
e. RICE educator shared motivational stories by giving example of successful students of various Govt. Exams,
3. A demo class of coding & decoding (reasoning) was organised by RICE Education. This class was taken by AVP of RICE Education.
4. A question answer and doubt clearing session was organised by the Rice educator at the end of the seminar.

The seminar ended with thanks to all the participants and was concluded at 01:25 pm.
