A successful hands-on Training Programme on Scientific Oyster Mushroom spawn Cultivation Technology was conducted on 13 March 2026, with enthusiastic participation from 15 farmers, members of DIMONDHARBOUR-1 AGRO Farmer Producer Company, Diamond Harbour -I block. The programme was organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension & Communication, in collaboration with the Department of Plant Pathology, at the TNU Instructional Farm, School of Agriculture & Allied Sciences, The Neotia University.

The training focused on key practical components such as preparation of mother culture, preparation of mother spawn & commercial spawn for oyster mushrooms cultivation,maintenance of mushroom spawn and an overview of the basic economics of mushroom spawn cultivation. Special emphasis was placed on empowering farmers and young farmers by equipping them with the technical skills needed to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.

This initiative plays a vital role in enhancing rural livelihoods, promoting rural entrepreneurship, and creating opportunities for alternative income-generating farming practices, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural development.

Young Farmers Camp and Agrilympics (YFCA) – Eastern Region, 2025 is being organized by School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, in collaboration with the Institute for Motivating Self Employment (IMSE). The programme is supported under the APFP-FO4A, Asian Farmers’ Association, funded by European Union, International Fund for Agricultural Development.
We are pleased to inform that the first day of the YFCA (Eastern Region) 2025 programme has been successfully conducted. The day included the inauguration ceremony, thematic workshops on sustainable and climate-smart agriculture, and vibrant cultural performances by the participants.
This regional initiative is designed to empower young farmers and build capacity for future engagement at the Asia-Pacific level.
The second day of the programme will continue tomorrow with Agrilympics competitions.
