বাংলা নববর্ষ ১৪৩৩-র সূচনা হয়েছে। বৈশাখে থার্মোমিটারের পারদ যেমন চড়ছে তেমনই বঙ্গদেশে ভোটের উত্তাপও চড়ছে একটু একটু করে। যদিও সব মানুষ যে ভোট দিতে পারবেন সেই ব্যবস্থা দায়িত্বশীল নির্বাচন কমিশন করে উঠতে পারেনি। তাদের কাজে অনেক ফাঁক ফোঁকর থেকেই গেলো - একটা বড় সংখ্যক সহনাগরিকদের ভোটাধিকার ফেরত পাওয়ার জন্য এখনও অনেক কাঠ-খড় পোড়াতে হবে।

এদিকে আমরা যারা প্রকৃতির সান্নিধ্যে থেকে পাখিদের সঙ্গে বন্ধুত্ব করি তাদেরও আবার নিজেদের আশেপাশের পাখিদের সমীক্ষা চালানোর সময় হয়ে গিয়েছে। আমাদের সমীক্ষায় কোনো ফাঁক ফোঁকর থাকলে চলবে না।

তাই বাকসা সায়েন্স অর্গানাইজেশনের আয়োজনে ও Birdwatchers' Society-এর সহযোগিতায় গ্রীষ্মকালীন পাখি দেখা ও পাখি গোনা আয়োজিত হবে আগামী ১৯ এপ্রিল রবিবার সকাল ৬টা থেকে, মণিরামপুরে। ওই দিন সকালে আমরা চিনে নেবো আমাদের এখানের স্থায়ীভাবে বাস করা হোক বা পরিযায়ী — সব পাখিদেরই। আর সেই সমীক্ষার তথ্য সঠিক ভাবে তোলা থাকবে eBird ওয়েবসাইটে। আর এইভাবেই একাধিক বছরের তালিকার সাথে তুলনা করে ভবিষ্যতে বুঝতে পারবো পাখিদের উপস্থিতিতে কেমন কি পরিবর্তন হচ্ছে জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন ও অন্যান্য ঘটনার সাথে সাথে।

আমাদের সাথে যোগ দিতে চাইলে এই Google Form (https://forms.gle/U4mhtDwc8wQomhMe8) fill up করে ফেলতে হবে। সর্বোচ্চ 20 জনকে আমরা যুক্ত করতে পারবো আমাদের সাথে আগে register করার ভিত্তিতে।

প্রকৃতি বাঁচুক, পাখিরা বাঁচুক তবেই বাঁচবো আমরাও। ভোটের ময়দানে বিভিন্ন পক্ষ যারা ক্ষমতায় এলে কি কি করবেন জানাচ্ছেন তারাও একটু প্রকৃতি রক্ষার দিকটা দেখবেন।
