Seminar participation at University of Calcutta

Students and teachers of Ananda Mohan College participated in seminar on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) and Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme (PMIS) on 12th June, 2026 at Meghnad Saha Auditorium of Rajabazar Campus, University of Calcutta.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) is a national level initiative from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It aims to address a major problem of drug abuse and build a drug free country by 2047.

Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme (PMIS) is also another national level initiative from Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The objective of the scheme is to support students with paid internship in different companies accross the country.

Experts from different sectors were present to give their views on these schemes and make students and teachers aware about the programs. The team from Ananda Mohan College enjoyed listening to and interacting with the experts present.

AMC Internship 2026

Dr. Sanjay Dey, Head of the Department of Zoology, Ananda Mohan College conducted three sessions as a part of AMC Internship Program 2026. The discussion was done on Principal Component Analysis (PCA), correlation, regression analysis, time series analysis, data scaling, and goodness-of-fit metrics ( R2 and Adjusted R2). The discussion gives a clear idea about basic data analytics like, P value, Alpha value.

PCA:

PCA is a dimensionality reduction technique. It condenses large, highly correlated datasets into a smaller, uncorrelated set of variables called principal components.

Correlation:

A statistical measure that identifies the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two numerical variables

Regression Analysis:

A predictive modeling technique that investigates the relationship between a dependent (target) variable and one or more independent (predictor) variables. Different types are , Simple Linear Regression uses one predictor; Multiple Linear Regression

The mentioned aspects of Data Analytics will help science students to analyse data as they move into higher studies and professional fields. The sessions were highly interactive and brought out thought provoking questions for all.

Dr. Sounak Dutta successfully conducted three sessions on Basics of Nanoscience and Spectroscopic Tools as a part of AMC Internship Programme 2026 for CCF BSc Semester-IV students.

Topic Covered: The sessions were based on
1. Advancement in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with Focus on Metal, Metal oxide, Carbon and Organic Nanomaterials.
2. Spectroscopic Tools in Research.

Two online and one offline classes were taken.

Around 35 students from different Science Stream subjects of Ananda Mohan College actively participated in the programme and attended the sessions with great enthusiasm.

Overall the sessions were interactive and fruitful. Hopefully this knowledge of Nanoscience and Spectroscopic techniques will help the students in future studies and research.

AMC Internship Program 2026

Batch 1 updates

Dr. Subhalakshmi Paul successfully conducted three sessions on Advanced Excel as a part of AMC Internship Programme 2026 for CCF BSc Semester-IV students.

Topic Covered: The sessions focused on advanced spreadsheet applications including:
Google form creation and data collection
Advanced formulas and functions
Logical functions and data handling
Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts
Conditional Formatting
Data Analysis Tools
Data Visualization Techniques

Around 35 students from different Science Stream subjects of Ananda Mohan College actively participated in the programme and attended the sessions with great enthusiasm.

Outcome: Students gained practical knowledge regarding efficient data organization, analysis, and presentation using Microsoft Excel.
The sessions helped students understand the importance of spreadsheet tools in:
Academic research
Scientific data analysis
Report preparation.
Statistical interpretation
Professional and office applications
Students learned how to use Excel tools for making data-driven decisions and generating meaningful graphical representations of datasets.

Overall, the Advanced Excel sessions successfully contributed towards skill development, academic enrichment, and employability enhancement of the participating students.

Dr. Dhiman Mondal conducted two sessions in the Summer Internship Programme 2026 for CCF BSc Semester-IV students as the Librarian of the institution.

The two sessions were based on

🔐 Session 2: Cyber Security and Social Media Threats

Around 35 students of different subjects from Science Stream of Ananda Mohan College are attending the Internship Program. They showed great enthusiasm and remained actively engaged throughout the sessions, making the interactions highly enjoyable and meaningful.

The sessions helped them enrich knowledge about academics available in web and also increase their digital awareness. The sessions will also encourage them to practise digital hygiene, become responsible digital citizens and stay protected against cyber fraudsters and online criminals.

Ananda Mohan College is presently organizing an Internship programme for Science students. The first batch comprises of 35 students from different Science subjects of our college. The course covers basics of Computer applications, Cyber knowledge, Bioinformatics and Spectroscopy which is relevant for Modern Science Education and Research. The resource persons are teachers from different subjects of Ananda Mohan College.

আনন্দমোহন কলেজে রবীন্দ্রজয়ন্তী উদযাপন

কবিগুরু রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের জন্মদিন ২৫শে- বৈশাখ উপলক্ষে আনন্দমোহন কলেজের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা বৃন্দ উদযাপন করলেন রবীন্দ্রজয়ন্তী। বাঙালির জীবনে রবীন্দ্রনাথ একাত্ম হয়ে গেছেন। ওনার রচনা, সাহিত্য, গান, চিন্তাভাবনা প্রত্যেকটি বাঙালিকে ছুঁয়ে যায়। শুধু বাঙালি নয়, সারা ভারতবর্ষে এমনকি সারা বিশ্বে তিনি বন্দিত হয়েছেন তাঁর সাহিত্যের জন্য, সঙ্গীতের জন্য।

আমরা কলেজের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মধ্যে রবীন্দ্রনাথের চিন্তা ভাবনা ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করি, বিভিন্ন ভাবে। ক্লাসে হোক বা সেমিনারে, রবীন্দ্রনাথ আমাদের সঙ্গে থাকেন। তাঁর গান, কবিতা আমাদের সব সময়ের পথ চলার সঙ্গী।

১৫ই মে, ২০২৬ আমাদের কলেজে রবীন্দ্রজয়ন্তী উদযাপিত হল। কালচারাল কমিটির কনভেনর এবং গায়িকা ড. সৌমি নাহা নাগের তত্ত্বাবধানে কলেজের বিভিন্ন শিক্ষক শিক্ষিকা এবং ছাত্রছাত্রী অংশগ্রহণ করলেন অনুষ্ঠানে। অনুষ্ঠানে পরিবেশিত হল গান, নাচ, আবৃত্তি এবং বক্তব্য।

এই ধরনের অনুষ্ঠান পড়াশোনার ফাঁকে আমাদের একটু অন্যরকম অনুভূতি দিয়ে যায়। রবীন্দ্রনাথকে আরও সুন্দর ভাবে অনুধাবন করার সুযোগ করে দেয়। সকলে মিলে কাজ করার মধ্যেও অন্যরকম আনন্দ অনুভব করি। আমাদের অধ্যক্ষ ড. দেবর্ষি ভট্টাচার্যের অনুপ্রেরণা আমাদের কাজ করতে অনুপ্রেরণা দেয়, ধন্যবাদ জানাই। ধন্যবাদ জানাই সৌমি নাহা নাগ এবং সকল শিক্ষক শিক্ষিকাকে।

Workshop on Sensitisation on the Evils of Dowry system

On 14th May, 2026, NSS and Women Cell of Ananda Mohan College organized a workshop on Sensitisation on the Evils of Dowry system. The resource person was Ms. Supriya Roy Chowdhury, Social Development Personal and Founder, Towards Future.

It is unfortunate that even in the twenty first century, we are still facing dowry system during marriage in different sections of society. Particularly in the seminar urban and rural areas, it is considered to be a general practice and the bride's family faces enormous financial pressure due to the same.

We, at Ananda Mohan College, we try to ensure all students and teachers learn about the evil practices of society and work against the same. We believe that progress at a personal level can lead to progess of society. On 14th May, 2026, the NSS and Women Cell of our college arranged a wonderful workshop where Ms. Supriya Roy Chowdhury, a social activist connected with NGO, Towards Future spoke on the disheartening effects of dowry in society. Students from all the streams and several teachers attended the workshop.

We thank the speaker, we acknowledge efforts of NSS and Women Cell for organizing such a relevant workshop. We thank our Principal, Dr. Debarshi Bhattacharya for his support and inspiration.
