✨ Communication is more than just talking.
It’s about connection. It’s about understanding. It’s about expression—in any form.
We are so incredibly proud of this little girl 🌱
She understands the question, and she knows how to express her response. That understanding—and expressing it meaningfully—is what truly matters.
When parents and teachers work together as a team, success follows 🤝
The parent shared that she already knew the word. We simply gave those words a structure. And look how far that belief and collaboration have taken her 💫
Progress happens when we focus on ability, not limitation.
Every child communicates—sometimes we just need to listen differently 💙

🌟 A Journey That Inspires Us All 🌟
In March 2022, a little boy walked into Big Leap with many challenges.
He was unable to express himself, had no vocal communication, was not toilet trained, faced feeding difficulties, and showed several socially inappropriate behaviours, including aggression.
He attended intervention six days a week, from morning till evening—and slowly, patiently, consistently, the journey began.
Two years ago, during the summer vacation, something magical happened ✨
He started speaking—naming words and objects. While teachers were on vacation, it was the caregivers and I who witnessed this beautiful milestone. We celebrated every single word with joy and hope.
Gradually, he began requesting his basic needs—first in one repertoire, then expanding to two and three.
Today, he is demonstrating pure mand and pure tact.
Simply WOW! 💫
And now—this little warrior has graduated from Early Intervention to Kindergarten and is ready to step into a regular classroom setup.
There is so much more we could say about this child, but above all, we want him to know how proud we are. And a special mention our caregiver Lipi Di, who has played a special role in his successes!
We love you, and we wish you all the very best for this new chapter 🌈
✨ Proof that early intervention, consistency, teamwork, and belief can change lives.
💙

Bigleap Inclusive Foundation has often taken a quiet, thoughtful approach—sometimes even slow—in sharing our work. We’ve always believed in letting our actions speak louder than words. We welcome the new year and hopefully newer members to our team with a lot of love and hope!

Please do come and visit and encourage their efforts.
The Trunk has given us this opportunity to use their space and we are grateful to them.

In lieu of Autism Awareness month, Big Leap in association with Rotary Club of Calcutta Metro City, organized a programme “Autism and Awareness”, on 24th April,2024. This was done to promote advocacy of inclusion. The evening was made memorable by the students, who themselves were able to articulate and demonstrate their achievements. It was a special moment for us as well as their parents who strive so hard to provide them with the much needed intervention. There were hand-made cards by the students on display, and they participated in a ramp-walk, along with their parents,to celebrate their individual selves by donning colourful garments. We believe the event to be a success simply because we had so many questions coming in from people regarding how they might immerse in advocacy of inclusion and how they might be able to do their bit to help those with Autism to flourish. We are grateful for the kind of participation and applaud we received. Parents too took their time in sharing their journeys that opened up the floor to a more in-depth discussion.
Special mentions go out to quite a few people. Well-known paediatrician, Dr. Joydeb Roy, spoke about how autism isn’t a disease and that parents shouldn’t immediately run to a doctor to find a “cure” for it. He took care in explaining the importance of timely and proper intervention.
We also had the pleasure of hosting of eminent singer, song writer and film maker, Anindya Chatterjee who has always shown eagerness in participating in advocacy of inclusion. He has kindly extended his faculties in making our broader goal a success. He performed a recitation and made the evening even warmer.
The whole design and set-up of the programme was led by Shalini Sen , who did a brilliant job in making it feel homely and festive.
The children’s wonderful clothing was sponsored by Bhomra and Company, a delightful home-grown brand.
All the black and white photographs have been curated by Sushmita Saha and the videography that was displayed on the screen capturing the children’s activities, was done by Rupa Sarkar. They also did a wonderful job in capturing the essence of the evening.

We couldn’t have done any of it without our parents, our advocates, our social partners and most of all, our students for whom we strive to provide the best.

We promise this will be an evening that you will hold dear to you!
Do join us in our continual attempt to raise awareness and inclusion, and to create dialogue about autism.
