It’s International LEGO Day! Did you know and LEGO Group have a long history of collaboration?
Let’s celebrate the Mars missions that inspired sets that aren’t only fun to build, but also teach kids and adults alike about space, engineering, and exploration.
🔴 In 2003, the Mars Exploration Rover mission (aka Spirit and Opportunity) was turned into a set that featured one of the rovers, a replica of the 2001 Mars Odyssey orbiter, and the Delta II rocket that launched each spacecraft.
🤖 Another spacecraft that was turned into a LEGO set was NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover. The design features the rover’s rocker bogie suspension system and a moveable robotic arm.
🚁 A set modeled after NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover and Ingenuity came out in 2023. The kit allowed builders to explore the rover’s mobility system and science instruments and complete interactive challenges by incorporating augmented reality.
Whether it’s Curiosity, Perseverance, or other Mars missions, these sets inspire builders of all ages to dream big.

Another surge of very cold air has dropped down from the Arctic over a large region of the central U.S.
This time the stretched out polar vortex *may* be associated with the forecasted southward shift of the jet stream, which allows the troposphere’s cold Arctic air to spill into the continental US.
Experts discuss in the latest Polar Vortex Blog: https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/polar-vortex/another-blast-arctic-air-time-stretched-strong-polar-vortex?fbclid=IwY2xjawH8j_lleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHfSUi86VWNwiK-v7Infx2krpz7V50ojWkdPn7EY3JFpdaQrjND6lAyCNvA_aem_NKvb9C7pkD5NIqN2C2gQHw
