Our Story
Welcome to the official page of Vivekananda Vidyamandir, Agarpara, a private Bengali and English Medium educational institution for Play-group, Pre-Primary and Primary level children. Following the ideals of Ramkrishna-Saradamoni-Vivekananda, Vivekananda Vidyamandir was established in 1958 by late Sri Samarendra Maitra to impart holistic and balanced education to children so as to lay their foundations for higher education and journey of life. Supported by his wife, late Srimati Gita Maitra, the institution adopts to the contemporary educational systems for curricular and co-curricular learning. The Bengali medium school operates in both morning and day sections and follows January-December academic calendar, guided by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education curriculum. The English medium school operates in the morning following April-March academic calendar, guided by the ICSE curriculum. The academic calendar for the schools are split into three terms, with weekly-tests conducted within the terms and each term ending with a terminal examination. The well-researched education system followed at the school is comprised of practical, hands-on and audio-visual programs including computer aided learning. Students are encouraged to participate in cultural programs, public speaking, debating, elocution, free-hand writing, drawing, art & craft and sporting activities. Social and emotional skills development, educational excursions, academic exhibitions as well as knowledge development on hygiene and health are integral part of the scientific learning process which has evolved over several decades. Performance of individual students are routinely monitored and special care is provided for the students according to their needs including organising special classes.
