Empowering teachers with design thinking and prototyping skills, they'll mentor students to innovate and excel in critical thinking. Let's inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders!

Kolkata’s most prestigious Women Excellence Awards

Mantras Foundation, a leading NGO dedicated to empowering MSMEs, startups, and women professionals, successfully concluded the prestigious Masa Women Excellence Awards Gala on 10th of March at JW Marriot Kolkata. This event celebrated exceptional women across diverse fields, recognizing their impactful contributions and inspiring future generations.

Director of Mantras Foundation, Pragya Jhunjhunwala, stated, "We are committed to fostering a world where women's achievements are celebrated, promoting equality and empowerment. Through strategic initiatives and collaborations, we aim to provide support, resources, and opportunities that facilitate growth, innovation, and economic empowerment within these sectors."

A pivotal moment of the event was the panel discussion titled "Women Excellence: Being Stree Shakti," moderated by Smt. Ina Bose, Director Industry Relations, Sister Nivedita University and Sri Debashis Biswas, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Shri P K Das, Joint Director MSME and Smt Jyoti Banerjee, Senior Vice President Kotak Mahindra Bank as the other panelists.

Attendees gained inspiration and knowledge from discussions on women's empowerment, leadership, and breaking barriers.

The gala concluded with the introduction of two exciting initiatives: the Entrepreneurship Hackathon and the MSME Ayush Center, further illustrating Mantras Foundation's commitment to fostering growth and opportunity.

In line with the theme "Inspire Inclusion" of International Women's Day 2024, on 8th March 2024, Sister Nivedita University honoured and awarded three most deserving specially challenged women students at the University Hall.

Mayuri Roy, a dedicated student at the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication at SNU and has impressed one and all with her skills as an intern photographer. Mayuri was detected with thalassemia when she was barely three months old. Overcoming financial hurdles, her parents strove hard to ensure timely supply of blood for transfusion periodically. At the age of 7, she went through an expensive splenectomy surgery at Vellore. Despite having a bleak chance of life, Mayuri realized she loved photography and has taken up this as her profession along with her studies.

Sandipa Jana a girl born with osteogenesis imperfect, brittle bone disease. Amidst the whirlwind of medical consultations and treatments from the age of three, Sandipa's indomitable spirit remained unbroken. Despite her physical limitations and numerous surgeries she exhibited an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a steadfast commitment to her education. Sandipa’s journey through the corridors of academia was not without its hurdles, yet she emerged triumphant at every turn. Sandipa excelled academically, consistently ranking at the top of her class, she achieved 85% in her 10th board and 79% in her 12th board exams. Currently she’s pursuing B.Tech (Computer Science) – final year at Sister Nivedita University.

Anushka Sarkar, a B Tech (Computer Science) second year student at Sister Nivedita University labelled as a dwarf by many, faces the harsh reality of being perceived as a source of amusement. However, against a backdrop of scepticism, a door opened to a remarkable chapter that became part of an environment that appreciated her uniqueness and potential. The path, far from smooth, is riddled with challenges, but in the face of adversity, the strength within her flourishes, transforming scars of mockery into badges of resilience. Anushka's life, a harmonious blend of challenges and joys, owes its richness to her amazing parents, supportive family, great professors, and lovely friends.

These women achievers were felicitated and awarded by a host of eminent personalities viz Vice Chancellor - SNU Prof Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Dr Minu Budhia , Founder – Director, Caring Minds, Prof Anuradha Lohia, Chairperson Trustee, Manovikas Kendra, Rita Bhimani, Founder & CEO , Ritam Communications, Prof Mohua Banerjee , Director , International Management Institute Kolkata, Ina Bose, Director- Industry Relations, SNU, Pradyut Kr Biswas, OSD to the Chancellor – SNU, Subir Raksh*t, CFO-SNU and other senior academicians and officials of the university.

On Women's Day, we celebrated female leadership by visiting schools led by inspiring female principals. Their commitment and guidance enable the upcoming generation of leaders. Let's recognize and be grateful for their priceless contributions to society and education.
