*Raksha Bandhan* is an auspicious festival that celebrates the beautiful bond of brothers and sisters. It is a pledge taken by the brothers to protect and safeguard their sisters in all stages of life.

It is a time-honoured ritual of protection. *“Raksha”* literally translates to *‘safety’,* *“bandhan”* means *‘bond’.*

*Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore* started a mass *Raksha Bandhan festival during the partition of Bengal (1905) in which he encouraged everyone to participate in order to strengthen friendship between communities.*

*Today, RAKHI is a festival enjoyed by everyone.*
